Tour Of Bennington Battlefield And Monument

Saturday, June 20, was a lovely day and families visiting the Bennington Battlefield in the morning had an opportunity to hear how and why the Battle of Bennington took place in Walloomsac, NY. Well known historic interpreter Phyllis Chapman, dressed in colonial attire and equipped with maps and tiny soldiers, explained how the British wished to divide the northern colonies from the southern colonies by cutting out and occupying  the colony of New York. Rensselaer County 4-H Fashion Revue

4-H members from Columbia, Greene, Albany and Rensselaer Counties gathered recently in Valatie for the Annual 4-H Fashion Extravaganza.  This day was dedicated to evaluating sewing and textiles fashion projects as well as teaching and assisting members on how to write commentaries and model their outfits.  The day culminated with a live Fashion Revue where 4-H members walked the runway modeling their sewing and textiles creations.   [Read more…] about Rensselaer County 4-H Fashion Revue

Art Along The Stone Hill Trail

The Clark Art Institute began exhibiting contemporary artist Thomas Schütte’s first full-scale architectural art installation in the United States when it opened Thomas Schütte: Crystal on June 14. Conceived specifically for its location on the Clark’s Stone Hill trails, Schütte arrived at the unusual asymmetrical shape of Crystal by imagining a small piece of crystal scaled up to architectural proportions.

HFCC Announces 2nd Annual Junior Golf Program

Raymond N. Harrington

Hoosick Falls – Raymond N. Harrington 80, passed away on Thursday June 11, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, in Bennington.

Raymond was born on September 29, 1934 in Cambridge, New York, son of the late Raymond and Anna (Springer) Harrington. He was educated in a one room school house in Southwest Hoosick. He joined the United States Navy in 1953, serving his country until 1955.When Raymond was discharged he returned to Hoosick Falls and his current address on Spicer Road. He enjoyed feeding the birds and taking care of his lawn. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers in his garage. He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend a neighbor or anyone who needed it.

Survivors include his sisters Ramona Gerrity and Helen Rock as well as many other relatives and friends.

The services are being handled by the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY. At the request of Raymond the services will be private with a burial at the Gerald B.H.Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be the Veterans of Foreign War through the funeral home.
