Weir-Reynolds Community Pool Ready For The Next 50 Years

At noon on Saturday, June 20, the Weir Reynolds Community Pool reopened with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam welcomed the large crowd that turned out for the event. He thanked everyone involved in the restoration of the beautiful pool, especially Richard Laberge and other members of The Laberge Group and the William L. Watson Co., that rebuilt the pool. Berlin School Board Contemplates Low Bids For Closed Elementary Schools

Hoosick Falls School Board Creates And Fills Four New Positions

At its meeting on June 18, the Hoosick Falls School Board enacted the things that they had proposed in their budget. A resolution was passed to approve a Bond for the purchase of school buses in the amount of $115,000.  Four new positions were created, as contemplated in the budget approved by the voters. Aesthetic/Genetic: New Exhibit Highlights Group of Hoosick-Based Artists

Everyone knows that Grandma Moses was discovered in Hoosick Falls, but she is not the only important artist who lived in Hoosick.

A current exhibition at the Blue Hill Art and Cultural Center in Pearl River, New York highlights a group of artists with close ties to each other and to Hoosick. Jose de Creeft (1884-1982) his wife, Lorrie Goulet, his daughter, Donna Maria de Creeft, have work in this exhibit, which is entitled “Aesthetic/Genetic: Artist Families and their Circles”. Also featured in the show are de Creeft’s protegé, Gary L. Hoosick Falls Cafe Moves To New Location

Bagel and Brew, a John Street staple for the last six years, has moved to Elm Street, across from the Armory. Owners Rick and Pam Cuddihy are happy in their new home. “We liked John Street, but this is really a better location,” Rick said. “There’s plenty of easy parking in our lot, so customers don’t have to search for a space or walk any distance.” It is especially good for older folks, they explained, since the parking is so easy and everything is handicapped accessible. Since moving the cafe to the new location, they have nearly doubled their clientele. In addition to the improved parking and bigger space, they feel that this part of downtown Hoosick Falls has a lot of potential for business growth.
