HF Panthers Outscore Chatham, 21 – 8, In Super Bowl

The Hoosick Falls Panthers met the Chatham Panthers last Friday night in a Super Bowl game that both teams have looked forward to for the entire season. Each felt that the game would be close and that a break here or a break there would be the deciding factor. And that’s just how it played out. HF created their own breaks, a result of their awareness and ability to steal the ball, and made the best of them, resulting in a win.

Grafton To Hold Tax Levy Increase To 0.7%

The Grafton Town Board came to agreement on its 2014 budget at the November 12 Budget workshop. The tax levy is expected to rise by about 0.7%. After All The Votes Are Counted Sutton And Wysocki Take Seats On Hoosick Town Board

All the absentee ballots have been counted by the Board of Elections. Final vote totals for Hoosick Town Council are David Sutton 1,036, Jeffrey Wysocki 1,034, Michael Hickey 1,006 and Joyce Brewer 948.

New Lebanon Town Board Action – Town Lowers Property Tax

The Town Board of New Lebanon adopted a 2014 budget of $2,060,515 at its monthly meeting Tuesday. This budget has a .3% increase from the 2013 year. The budget, which passed with all in favor, provides for a 3% salary increase for Town employees.

Rensselaer County Legislature Action – First Time Homebuyers Grants Available

There will be a public hearing on December 10 at 5:30 pm before the next regular meeting of the Legislature on a Small Cities Grant application. In an interview after Tuesday’s Legislative meeting, District 5 Legislators Stan Brownell and Lester Goodermote, who represent the towns of Stephentown, Berlin, Petersburgh, Grafton, Hoosick and the Village of Hoosick Falls, pointed out that the Small Cities grant will provide first time homebuyers with a grant of up to $20,000 for closing and acquisition costs. Korean War Vets Are Focus Of Stephentown Vet Ceremony

The Korean War, often referred to as “the forgotten war,” was a bitter three year hard fought struggle that came to a precarious end 60 years ago. Fittingly, the Veterans of the Stephentown Area decided to focus on the veterans of the Korean War era in their Veterans Day ceremonies this year. The event was held in Veterans Park on Saturday morning, November 9.

Veterans Ceremony At HFCS

There is nothing that surpasses the enthusiasm of the elementary students at Hoosick Falls Central School when it comes to honoring veterans. On Friday, November 8, they entered the high school auditorium dressed in red, white and blue. Members from each class carried a flag to the front of the stage. The PVMCC Celebrates Its Veterans

On A beautiful Saturday morning in November members of Boy Scout Troop 222 and community members hosted a breakfast to honor our local Veterans and their families. The PVMCC asked the Troop to help out with a breakfast, and the boys in the troop said yes.
