NLCS Alumni Banquet 2013

The New Lebanon Central School Alumni Reunion banquet was held this year at Jackson’s Old Chatham House in Old Chatham. For the eighth year in a row the buffet dinner was compliments of the generous Mr. Robert Burns, Class of 1949. Attending the festivities on July 13 were some 158 graduates representing the class of 1935 through the class of 2007, along with more than 70 spouses and guests.

Hoosick Falls Boy Scout Troop 63 attended Camp Wakpominee recently. The boys who went were able to attend sessions to get merit badges. Some of the badges earned were in swimming, archery, wilderness survival, forestry, soil and water conservation, fishing, and environmental science. Petersburgh Library News
Everyone is invited to the Library’s next “Saunter in the Shire” on Wednesday, July 31, at 5 pm. Meet at the Library and journey to the Petersburgh sculpture garden featured in the DVD “Peter’s People.” If you want a sneak preview, the DVD is available at the Library for you to take home and view.
On Wednesday, July 31, at 6 pm everyone is invited to the opening reception for a new photography exhibit at the Library. In June the Library sponsored a photography workshop for youth ages 10 to 16. The photographs will be on display at the Library during the months of August and September. This program was supported in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Children’s Activities
On Tuesday, July 30, at 11 am Story Hour will feature stories on “I Dig Hidden Treasure.” All pre-schoolers are invited to attend. On Wednesday, July 31, our drop-in craft will feature painting and decorating a treasure box to take home. All children are invited to join in this activity any time between 2 and 4 pm.
Don’t forget to keep reading this summer. Children who have signed up for the summer reading program can log their books online or on forms provided. They need to be turned in by August 12 so you have lots of time to read. Teens and adults may enter a prize drawing for every book read. There are 11 prizes for adults and 4 for teens. Stop by the Library and pick up some entry slips, and keep reading!
