The Football team won its first ever State title and a 106 pound wrestler. Luis Weierbach, brought HFCS its first State title in that sport. Many of the school’s athletes were recognized by the WASAREN League, by State high school sports organizations and by area newspapers for their sports accomplishments. Some victories were small, others large. All were milestones.

The rainstorms which came through the area on the evening of May 29 hit Petersburgh and Williamstown especially hard, as an especially intense thunderstorm tracked close to Route 2 moving over Petersburgh Pass. The storm was quick – it only lasted a half hour or so, but it dropped anywhere from an inch and a half to two inches in that time, an extraordinary rate of rainfall.

I’m Still Here

June 7, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
“I’m still here, which, I think is pretty remarkable,” Attorney Denis King told members of the Hoosick Planning Board when he appeared for their meeting on May 20. King’s plane took a nose dive into the ground between the Hoosick Falls Country Club and Rogers Avenue in Hoosick Falls on Sunday, April 28. King was taken first to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and then transferred to Albany Medical Center.
After the meeting King said that a cause for the plane’s failure had not, as yet, been found. He was wearing a patch over one eye because of double vision, which he expects will clear up soon. “Other than some aches and pains, I’m fine,” he said. And as soon as his vision clears up he hopes to be flying again.
