Berkshire musician Rick Leab will be performing at the New Lebanon Library on Thursday, January 10, from 6:30 to 8 pm. He will be performing a number of works for mandocello, guitar and rhumba box. This event is free and open to the public, although donations for the performer are appreciated.

Memoir Writing Workshop At The Brunswick Library
The Brunswick Community Library is thrilled to present a four session memoir writing workshop in January. The workshop will be led by Susannah Risley, author and teacher of creative non-fiction. Maccabee Haas Graduates From Basic Training
Army National Guard Pvt. Maccabee E. Haas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, the military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Hass is the son of Joseph and Janet Haas of Dill Brook Road, Petersburgh.
He is a 2011 graduate of the High School of American Studies at Lehman College, Bronx.
Reid Rascoe Receives New Rank
Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Reid Rascoe from Stephentown, serving with the Company A, 1-224 Aviation Security and Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private.

Ashley Bloomfield of Stephentown, a first year student in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering, made the Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 quarter.

Johnsonville Rescue Squad Breakfast
The Johnsonville Rescue Squad, located at 4 River Road, is holding its first monthly breakfast of the new year on Sunday, January 6, from 7:30 to 11 am. Please note the new hours. The menu consists of eggs, French toast, pancakes, sausage, omelets, hash browns, juice, fruit and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Veterans of Stephentown Texas Hold’em
The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, January 12, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break.

Arlo Michael Church
Arlo Michael Church, cherished son of Michael and Sadie Church of Troy, NY, passed away at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shortly following his birth, December 26, 2012.
In addition to his parents he leaves behind a sister, Rebekah Skye Church, grandparents, Pat and Jim Holmes of Troy, Tom and Wendy McLaughlin of Castleton, NY, Peter Church of Hoosick, NY, and Irene Fyfe MacCollar of Belfast, ME, loving great-grandparents and a great number of extended family.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Petersburgh, NY.
Donations in Arlo’s memory to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia should be forwarded to the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, checks to be made out to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

West Lebanon – Peter Rawson, 73, of Schoolhouse Road, West Lebanon, NY, died peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
