He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lore Squier, his devoted sons, William of Stamford, CT, John of Falmouth Foreside, ME, and Michael Squier of Chatham, NY, and their wives, Beth, Laurette and Rita, and his three loving grandchildren, Craig, Levi and Lauren. Grafton Lakes State Park and the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park will host the 28th Annual Winter Festival and Ice Fishing Contest on Saturday, January 19. Monday: This morning I took the cutter and my wife went with me and carried our son G. Pease to Doctor E. Graves and had his teeth cut, and we got some phisic for Angeline. Tonight I went to debating school at the school house near Simeon Wylie’s.

“It started out as the congregation wanting to do something for the community,” said John Hyde. He was speaking about the free monthly meals offered at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hoosick Falls. “Secondly, we wanted to develop a men’s ministry.” What it became, more than three years ago, was St. Mark’s Men’s Suppers. Berlin Takes Possession Of New Municipal Center Property

In January the headline in this paper said, “Berlin Municipal Center Is Reborn With Purchase Of Berlin Lumber – A New Era Begins For Berlin.” Eleven months later this is true. At the Berlin Town Board meeting on Thursday, December 13, Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger announced that the Town would take possession of the Berlin Lumber property in Cherry Plain the next day, Friday, December 14. The property will serve as a municipal center with 7 buildings which will house the Town offices and justice court facilities, a large meeting and community room, a Highway Department office and proper garage space for the Town trucks as well as rental space. Stephentown Town Board Action – Town Won’t Take Elementary School Property

Stephentown will pass on buying the former elementary school property for $1. Town Supervisor Larry Eckhardt said at the Town Board meeting Monday that the President of the Berlin School Board has advised him that the School District will proceed to mothball the building that was formerly the Stephentown Elementary School and the property will be put back on the market for sale. Eckhardt and Board Members had met with representatives of the School Board but could not reach agreement on transferring the property to the Town. In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, the Berlin Central School District School Board, at the monthly meeting Tuesday, passed a resolution to completely evaluate the District’s security policies. The resolution passed with all in attendance in favor; Board Member Bev Stewart was absent that night.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – The Broken Wheel Bridge Project

Supervisor Siegfried Krahforst reported that he, Councilman Duane Goodermote and County Engineer Wayne Bonesteel had a meeting to evaluate proposals from engineers interested in doing the engineering work on the Broken Wheel Bridge. The existing bridge has a span of about 25 feet. The proposals being considered re-design the roadway and proposed spans range from 35 feet to 50 feet.
