The Life Of George Holcomb – Selling Apples
September 1, 1825, Thursday: This forenoon I rode to Lebanon after Doctor Right for Sylvester’s wife, and he cut stalks in my room while I was gone.
Sept. 2, Friday: I took the covered wagon and carried our people to the funeral of Hosea Moffitt. Mr. Shepard from Lenox preached and this evening we made a small pressing of cider.
Scpt. 5, Monday: Today Sylvester pealed and got about two dol and eighty cents apiece for us for Saturday, and today on this morning I rode over to Josiah Eggleston’s and his daughter Amanda rode my horse home and I walked. They said they were going to play football in the Dome. They were only 11 and 12 years old, but they honestly believed they were going to play in the Dome. by Thaddeus Flint
The Berlin School Board seems to have arrived at a point where they can agree to disagree. The traditional vote on the Capital Project bond flotation failed to pass at the November 20 meeting with the required two-thirds super majority, just like it always does. The only difference was that the Board members present didn’t even bother to take the time to argue their views; the matter went straight to vote.
“What? No discussion?” asked Board Member Bev Stewart.
Her fellow members sighed as one.
“Just kidding,” said Stewart.
