Berlin Boys Varsity Soccer Sinks Waterford, Heatly
Berlin 1, Waterford 0
Waterford and Berlin fought out another close contest on Thursday, October 11, with both teams playing well defensively and somehow trying to find the offensive finish. Much of the game was played between the 18s, with both sides having trouble combining for a good shot on goal. The game was decided with about 30 seconds to go in the second overtime, when the Mountaineers’ Cody Seel lofted a ball over one Waterford defender outside the 18 and the ball dropped to Jacob Mills alongside the last Fordian defender. Mills settled the ball and held off the defender and slid the ball past the keeper for the last gasp win. Berlin’s Sakan Sadowsky and Waterford’s Josh Orton were the standouts in the game. Both teams played well in this close contest.

Jacob Mills scored three goals, Christian Price and Kyle Burdick scored a goal apiece. Damian Degennaro and Jacob Mills had an assist.

Dutch Barns At The Poestenkill Historical Society
Ned Pratt will present a illustrated talk on Dutch barns at the next meeting of the Poestenkill Historical Society on Tuesday, October 23. Pratt is a member of The Dutch Barn Preservation Society whose members have been instrumental in preserving and restoring threatened barns.
Like many other symbols of our agricultural past, Dutch barns are rapidly disappearing. Few of these venerable buildings will survive the next twenty years. Built in large numbers between 1630 and 1825, Dutch barns can still be found in rural portions of the Hudson, Mohawk and Schoharie valleys and in northern and central New Jersey.
The Poestenkill Historical Society will meet at 7 pm in the Poestenkill Town Hall on Rt. 351.
