Algonquian Peoples Seminar To Highlight Lebanon Springs

The 12th Annual Mohican Algonquian Peoples Seminar will be held at the NYS Museum on Saturday, September 15, from 9 am to 4 pm. Mohican Tribal members, researchers and archaeologists will do presentations of Mohicans, past and present. We live on Mohican land. Learn more about the land you live on. The Mohican Reservation is in Wisconsin, but this area is their ancestral land. The fee for the seminar is $20. Bring your own lunch. For information, go to www.nativeamericanhudsonriver.org or call 518-369-8116. This year we have several local towns being highlighted – Coeymans, Staats Island and Lebanon Springs.

Pets In The Park Day At GLSP

Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting the first ever Pets in the Park Day. This event is on September 8 from 11 am to 3 pm. Bring your pet to the Deerfield picnic area in Grafton Lakes State Park for a day full of tail wagging and great fun. The event is free with Park admission.

Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.
This is a strenuous two day hike with some off trail bushwhacking and significant elevation change. We will be traveling approximately 15 miles each day. Participants must be in excellent physical condition. There is a $10 suggested donation to offset fuel costs. As part of the Hudson River Valley Ramble, pre-registration is required. Fish Available For Pond Stocking

The Rensselaer County Soil & Water Conservation District’s Annual Fish Stocking Program is currently taking orders for rainbow and brook trout as well as largemouth bass, channel catfish, fathead minnows and crayfish. Call the Conservation District at 518-271-1740 for an order form with more information on stocking. Orders will be taken up to October 5 with the distribution to be held on Friday, October 12, at 1 pm.

West Lebanon – Jean M. Drowne Wheeler, 66, of Schoolhouse Road, West Lebanon, NY, died early Monday morning August 27, 2012, surrounded by her loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene.
Born January 27, 1946, in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of Molly Seaman Drowne of Chatham, NY, and the late Roland Drowne. She was the loving wife of Russell  I. Wheeler, whom she married on May 25, 1968, in the Brainard Methodist Church.
