Defensive Driving Course In Hoosick Falls

The Northeast New York Safety & Health Council will sponsor the Defensive Driving Course at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls, on Saturday, September 8, beginning at 8:30 am promptly.
Successful completion of this class allows for a 10 percent insurance reduction on collision and liability for 3 years as well as the reduction of 4 points from your driver’s license on points acquired in the prior 18 months.
The course fills up quickly, please register early by calling 686-4854.

Farmers Market Coupons At The Grafton Senior Center

Farmers Market Coupons are available at the Everett Wagar Senior Center in Grafton. Coupons will be distributed at the Senior Center. You must come in to the Center to receive your coupons. Coupons will be available until our supply is depleted.  To be eligible you must show proof of residency in Rensselaer County, be 60 years of age or older and meet income guidelines.

Johnsonville Rescue Squad Breakfast

Tsatsawassa Pig Roast

On Saturday, August 18, the Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company Inc. will hold its 24th Annual Pig Roast on the Fire House grounds located just off Route 20 in the hamlet of Brainard. Doors will open at 1 pm, and the afternoon will be filled with fun events, including door prizes and games as well as hot dogs, sausage, hamburgers and drinks, all the while the ‘whole pig’ covered with foil, will be roasting on the spit in view of the attendees.

Katrina Neubauer Graduates From Marymount University

Marymount University is proud to announce that Katrina Neubauer, a resident of Stephentown earned a B.S. in Nursing (2nd degree) summa cum laude. Neubauer is among the more than 450 undergraduates and 350 graduate students who received degrees at the University’s 61st Commencement Ceremonies at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, on May 20.
The Honorable Charles T. (Chuck) Hagel, Chairman of the Atlantic Council and former U.S. Senator from Nebraska, gave the Address to the Graduates at the undergraduate ceremony and received the honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, in recognition of his lifetime of distinguished leadership and service. Area Students Graduate From The State University Of New York At Potsdam

The State University of New York at Potsdam awarded more than 920 undergraduate and graduate degrees during its 2012 Commencement ceremonies on May 19 and 20. SUNY Potsdam honored upwards of 750 students with bachelor’s degrees, while another 170 graduate students earned their master’s at the College’s Commencement weekend.
The graduates included Matthew Hartnett of Berlin, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, and Nicholas Paine of Petersburgh, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.

Audra Foster Is Named To The Gettysburg College Dean’s List

Audra Foster, of Hoosick, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in Spring 2012.
Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher, on a 4.0 scale, for a semester’s work are placed on the College’s Dean’s Honor List.
