The Veterans of Stephentown, are planning a three day bus trip to Washington, DC, on September 12 – 14. The package includes two nights lodging, two breakfasts and two dinners plus a guided city tour of Washington, DC, to view The White House, U.S. Capital, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, Washington Monument and World War II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. Burn With Extreme Caution

William H. Rifenburgh Jr., Hoosick Fire Department Chief, advises residents to use extreme caution with outdoor fires this spring “due to a lack of snow pack and the likelihood of a drier than normal spring. Additionally, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Regulation Part 215 prohibits open burning from March 15 through May 15 of each year,” he said.

Ency Burhans Named To Binghamton University’s Dean’s Honor List

Ency Burhans, of Berlin, a graduate of BCS, has received recognition for outstanding academic achievement for the Fall 2011 semester.Her name has been placed on the Binghamton University Watson School Dean’s Honors List. To qualify for this honor, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This is Ency’s third semester on the Dean’s Honor List.

Tsatsawassa Fire Co. Breakfast

The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will hold its monthly breakfast on Sunday, March 18, with servings from 8 until 11 am at a cost of $6.   Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce, beverages and eggs prepared to your specifications.

Grafton VFD Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an all you can eat buffet breakfast on Saturday, March 31, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy & biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu.
The  cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 6 to 12 and free for kids five and under.

Texas Hold’em In Stephentown

The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, March 10, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

Backyard Maple Sugaring Programs At GLSP

To welcome spring, Grafton Lakes State Park is providing one hour backyard maple sugaring demonstrations on Saturday, March 17, and Saturday, March 24. On March 17, the program will be offered throughout the day, at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm and 2 pm. On March 24, participants may attend at 10 am or 11 am.
