Stephentown VFD Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner

The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department’s 14th Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner will be served on Saturday, March 17, from  4 to 7 pm. This all you can eat dinner is at the Fire Hall on Grange Hall Road. Take-out dinners are also available. Adult and take-out dinners cost $10. Dinner for ages 6 to 10 years cost $6 and kids 5 and under dine for free.

Girl Scout Cookies Are On The Move

Girl Scout Cookies arrive in Hoosick Falls on February 25 and individual scouts will begin contacting their customers during the last week of February and early March. Girls and their parents/guardians will need cash payment for cookies prior to handing cookies over.
Did you miss out on ordering cookies from an individual scout or do you wish you ordered more? Don’t fret – local Girl Scouts will be selling at Stewart’s in Hoosick at the corner of Routes 22 and 7 on Fridays from 4 to 9 pm and Sundays from 2 to 7 pm and at the Big Moose Deli and Country Store in Hoosick at the corner of South Street and Route 7 on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm between March 10 and April 1.

Student-Athlete Tyler Pomakoy Recognized For Outstanding Academic Achievement

Tyler Pomakoy, a student-athlete at Binghamton University, was named to the fall 2011 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll after achieving semester grade point averages (GPA) of 3.30 or higher.
Tyler Pomakoy, who is on the Men’s Soccer team and pursuing a major in Undeclared, hails from Stephentown, and attended Berlin High School.

On Saturday, February 25, the Hoosic River Watershed Association will sponsor a snowshoe/ski/hike on upper Mountain Meadow in Pownal, VT, from 10 am to noon. Stephentown – Joseph Rieger, Jr., 84, of Garfield Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at his residence. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Liedecker Rieger. He was the loving husband of the former Ruth M. Sweener, whom he married on August 30, 1952 at the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon, NY. They have lived in the Stephentown area since 1953.

Ruth H. Koepp

Stephentown – Ruth H. Avery Koepp, 84, a 70 year resident of Stephentown, NY, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Chatham, NY, on March 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Margaret Rothe Avery. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth G. Koepp, who died on December 27, 2005. They were married on May 12, 1950. Ruth was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Pittsfield, MA.
