Nominated and unanimously voted to run on the Republican line are Keith Cipperly, Town Supervisor, Mark Surdam, Town Council, Bruce Patire, Town Council, and Richard Whalen, Town Justice. They will join incumbent Jack Mahar, Sheriff, candidate Joel Abelove, District Attorney, and incumbent Chris Hummel, Surrogate Court Judge on the Republican line, Row B.

Mike Benson Wins Independence Party Line For New Lebanon Town Supervisor

New Lebanon Supervisor candidate Mike Benson’s campaign to bring new leadership to the Town of New Lebanon government received an important boost with Benson winning a write-in bid to secure the Independence nomination in the September 13 primary.
The primary victory is important, as it strengthens Benson’s position on the ballot. Benson has already secured the Republican and Conservative nominations.

During the Civil War, Stephentown resident Charles F. Chapel was a Landsman, a seaman recruit, aboard the USS Wabash, Flagship of Admiral Samuel F. du Pont, Commander of the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron.

Funeral services for John P. Capano will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 2 pm from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. John passed away on August 25 and was the husband of Jeanne (Murphy) Capano of Hoosick Falls.

Stephentown – Ruth Ann Wemple Arto, 77, passed away early Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the HPH Hospice in Dade City, FL, surrounded by friends and family.

Ernest E. Niles Sr.
White Creek – Ernest E. Niles Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on County Rt. 68 in White Creek, NY.
Born on February 27, 1939, in Kingsbury, NY, Ernest was the son of the late Harold W. and Carrie (Olden) Niles Sr. He attended schools in the Kingsbury area. Ernest worked for the Construction Union in Troy, NY, retiring after twenty years. He then worked for the Town of Jackson Highway Department and later the White Creek Highway Department until retiring from there. Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, woodworking and traveling.

Geri was born in Buffalo, NY, and lived and schooled in Syracuse. She was pre-deceased by her husband of over 71 years, Wilbert (Bill) Spier, in October, 2008.

Born on September 19, 1912, he was the son of Andrew L. and Elizabeth (McGee) Williams. He was raised by George and Katherine Schuster from the age of five.
