Now in the hands of HAYC3, the tree lighting in Hoosick Falls continues to grow. Shops stayed open Friday evening, December 10. A small crowd gathered at 5 pm to see the tree lighted in Wood Park. From there folks wandered over to the Youth Center for a pancake supper. The parade through the Village to honor the community’s volunteer fire fighters began at six with decorated fire trucks from White Creek, North Hoosick, Hoosick and Hoosick Falls. Hoosick Falls – Joseph Robert (Jake/Bobby) Morin, 77, passed on to be with his beloved father and mother on Monday, December 13, 2010. Born on November 11, 1933, in Bennington, VT, he lived most of his life in Hoosick Falls, NY. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Class of 1951. He was the son of the late Gerard Morin Sr. and Mary (Powers) Morin.

BCS Students Invent Device To Help The Hearing Impaired

On December 7 Berlin Middle/High School students introduced an invention that could help the deaf and hearing impaired participate in sports. Out of more than 300 applicants, Berlin Middle/ High School was one of only 14 schools in the nation awarded an InvenTeam grant from the Lemelson-MIT Program this year.

Luxury Dog Kennel Meets Opposition

The Hoosick Zoning Board of Appeals held a Public Hearing Monday evening, December 6, on a special use permit submitted by Tracy Muscatello to build a 7,000 square foot dog kennel on her 22 acre property on the Buskirk-West Hoosick Road. About thirty people attended the hearing.

Big Plans For The Shaker Village In New Lebanon

Work is progressing on the creation of a marvelous heritage tourism destination at the Shaker Village in New Lebanon. David Stocks, President of the Shaker Museum and Library, currently based in Old Chatham, recently intrigued members and guests of the Stephentown Historical Society with his presentation about the ingenious Shakers and ongoing plans to relocate the Museum and Library to a restored North Family area of the Mount Lebanon Shaker Village.
