Dennis Flynn To Speak At Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Event

Dennis Flynn of Stage Road, Buskirk, will be guest speaker at the Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Celebration, following the annual parade on May 30. Flynn served as a staff sergeant in the US Army, Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

Register For The Townwide Tag Sale

The deadline to register a sale for the Annual Hoosick Townwide Tag Sale is Monday, May 23. Registration forms are available at the Village Clerk’s Office, 26 Main Street, and at the Hoosick Area Youth Center, 115 Church Street. There is a small fee to be on the map.

Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion

The Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion will be held on Saturday, June 11, at the Pittstown, NY, Volunteer Emergency Corps Building. Dinner will be served at 12:30 pm.  Special classes to be recognized are the graduating classes of 1961, 1951, 1941 and prior years. Merrily We Roll Along A Poignant & Moving Story

Hubbard Hall has opened a new production of Merrily We Roll Along, a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Despite its upbeat title, it’s rather a sad story, with the lead character making a series of bad decisions that estrange him from those he loves, and make himself and them miserable.

Committal services with military honors for Harry B Gompert Jr. are on Friday, May 20, at 1 pm in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Harry passed away on April 25, 2011, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Gompert. He is survived by a son, Daniel Gompert, a daughter, Judith Cutler, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

The End Of An Era: Hoosick Falls Dispatch Radio Tower Taken Down

On Wednesday, May 11, members of the Hoosick Falls Fire Department and Wells Communications dismantled the communications tower on the Hoosick Falls Municipal Building. Rescue Squad President Bill Gaillard said the antenna was paid for by the Squad and installed 25 years ago. With the Village dispatch gone, there is no need for the tower. Most of it will be scrapped, but Gaillard hopes to relocate one of the radio portions to the North Hoosick Fire Department as backup. Hoosick Falls Property Owners Without Water Meters To Be Fined

At the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, May 10, the Board approved a motion to enforce the local law for fines on those property owners who do not yet have water meters or have not had broken meters repaired. The Village will also re-levy all unpaid invoices pertaining to water, sewer, solid waste and property maintenance.
Residents have already received mock bills based on water meter readings to give them an opportunity to understand the new payment process.
