Hoosick Falls Health Center’s Annual Resident And Family Picnic

The Hoosick Falls Health Center’s Annual Resident and Family Picnic was held recently with over 100 in attendance. The menu included, steamers with drawn butter, BBQ chicken, BBQ baby back ribs, smoky baked beans, fresh butter and sugar corn on the cob, a variety of homemade salads, chips, rolls and butter followed by a dessert of white and chocolate cake with icing. Entertainment was provided by Lou Gardner on the saxophone and Al Mosher on the keyboard.

The successful event was all made possible by Jane Richardson, Food Service Director, Jane Conte, Director of Nursing, Maureen Martinez, Director of Recreational Therapy, and Richard Springer, Director of Maintenance, and their staffs.

The annual picnic gives everyone a chance to meet and come together as a family.

The Hoosick Falls Health Center is an 82 bed not-for-profit skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility serving the area over 90 years.

Hoosick’s Halloween Parade

Looking for a ghoulishly good time this Halloween? Then come to the Annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 30, in Hoosick Falls.  Whether you join in the Parade, or just watch from the sidelines, you are sure to enjoy the many creative costumes of the parade go-ers.  The line-up for judging by members of the National Honor Society of Hoosick Falls Central School with their advisor Isabel McGuire will be at 6 pm at the Gazebo in the Village Park.  Marchers will start up Main Street at 6:15 and return to the Park for treats provided by the Town of Hoosick. Prizes in five categories will be provided by the Hoosick Falls Police Benevolent Association.

Candidates Attend Democrat Event

About 50 people attended the Democrat event held at the Sand Bar on Sunday, October 19. “Everyone had a great time,” said Hoosick Town Supervisor Marilyn Douglas. Candidates running for election in November attending were Ian McGaughey who is running against Tony Jordan for the New York State Assembly and Mike Russo, former District Director for Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand. Russo is running for the New York State Senate against Roy McDonald. Also attending the event was Rensselaer County Democrat Chairman Tom Wade.

The 2008 Coaches Cup Winner is Kevin Gorman.

The 2008 NYSGA Medallion Winners are – Men’s Gross –  Kevin Gorman; Ladies Gross – Peg Crossman                                                                 Men’s Net – Ed Atherton;  Ladies Net – Shari Spangenberg.

The Closing Party Scramble – Team was won by  the team of Paul Haynes, Jr., Bill Sparks, Dave McCabe and Brad Eastman.

The Annual Meeting is October 25 at 10 am in the Club House. All members are urged to attend.
