NYS Police Investigate Fatal Accident In Hoosick

On November 19, at approximately 1:17 pm, Jo-De M. Wilbur, 26, of Greenwich, NY, was traveling east on County Route 102, Johnson Hill Road, in the Town of Hoosick, operating a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck. HAYC 3 Tree Lighting, Parade And A Visit With Santa

Join HAYC3 on Friday, December 7, for the Annual Tree Lighting, Parade and Visit with Santa starting at 7 pm. Please gather in Wood Park in Hoosick Falls at 7 pm in your holiday costumes – stars, presents, menorahs, Santas and candy canes are welcome!  Santa will lead the parade from Wood Park to the Armory where he will visit with each child and listen to their Christmas requests!

Cheney Library Presentation – Books For Holiday Giving

Trying to choose just the right gift for a family member or friend? On Tuesday, December 4, at 7 pm the Friends of the Cheney Library in Hoosick Falls will be hosting the first of its “Love Your Library” events. Connie Brooks of Battenkill Books in Cambridge will be giving a series of talks about books suitable for holiday gift giving. She will have the books on display to order. Selections will be for book lovers of all ages.
Throughout 2013 The Cheney Library will be having monthly events in celebration of the Library’s 90 birthday.

HAYC3 Basketball Program-Still Time to Join!

Registration is still open for the HAYC3 Basketball Program. This fun, recreational program, geared towards improving skills and teamwork through weekly practices and league games, is open to youth from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The program starts on Saturday, December 1, with co-ed kindergartners through second-graders from 8 to 9 am.
Third through fourth-graders are scheduled from 9 to 10:30 am. Fifth and sixth-graders will start at 10:30 am and end at noon.

Town Of Hoosick Opposed To Keeping Police Force If Village Dissolves

At the Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Thursday, November 15, Hoosick Falls Mayor Matt Monahan asked the Board members for their opinion of a Town Wide Police Force. He said it was nothing formal and he was not there to lobby the Board one way or another.
He brought up the issue because for several months the Village has had a Dissolution Study underway. The Committee has met on several occasions, and two public hearings have been held. Hoosick Planning Board Action

The first to appear before the Planning Board at its Monday, November 19, meeting was Kendal Baker. He was representing the Nelson family that has a farm on Pine Valley Road. This was an initial conference. The Nelsons wish to divide the 365 acre property into three parcels for a simple subdivision. The first parcel would consist of the main farmhouse and barns and cleared land of approximately 171 acres. The second parcel would consist of a small bungalow with 167 acres and the third parcel would be a 27 acre wooded lot. Baker explained that parcel two contains a spring that would require a water easement. Baker will return to the Board next month with the property survey.

Hoosick Falls Boy Scouts Hike Up Mount Greylock

Boy Scout Troop 65 from Hoosick Falls hiked to the 3,491 foot summit of Mt. Greylock located in North Adams, MA, on October 21. The ten mile round trip hike took approximately five and a half hours, and the scouts enjoyed lunch, hot cocoa and extraordinary views at the summit.
