Hoosick Baseball Camp

The “Good Old Country Hardball” Baseball Camp will once again be held at the Hoosick Little League Fields for those entering grades 3-8. The camp dates are July 2 through July 5, and it runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Camp brochures can be picked up by calling Camp Director Mike Lilac at 686-7321×1712, 268-8541 or 686-4320.

End Of Year Kids Dance Is Number 300

The North Hoosick Fire Department will hold its end of the school year dance this Friday, June 29, from 7 to 10 pm at the Fire Station on Rt. 22. This dance is the Department’s 300th dance. Students ages 9 to 14 who attend area schools are invited to attend. The admission price has been reduced to $1 for this dance.
There will be one final dance at the Town of Hoosick Community Pool on Friday, July 13. Pool dance tickets can only be purchased at this Friday’s dance.

Bennington Battlefield Historic Site Hosting “A Blast At Bennington”

The Bennington Battlefield Historic Site will be hosting a summer program, “A Blast at Bennington,” on Sunday July 1, at 2 pm. This program will include a brief look into what it was like to be a child during the Revolutionary War. Participants can also try a few colonial games and a craft. Come dressed for the weather and discover what life was like way back when.

Brunswick Grange Agricultural Tailgate Sale

On Sunday, July 8, Brunswick Grange will hold its Agricultural Tailgate Sale at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, Route 67 and 40, Schaghticoke, from 8 am to 12:30 pm. More than 50 vendors will have various varieties of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, vegetables, plants, flowers and other agricultural items. Absolutely no dogs, cats, puppys or kittens will be allowed for sale. A donation of $15 per vendor will be charged. The sale will be held rain or shine. Refreshments will also be available. Hoosick Planning Board Action – Family Dollar Set To Go

Clark R. Wilkinson, President of Paragon Civil Engineering, P.C. addressed the Town of Hoosick Planning Board again Monday evening, June 18, regarding the 8,000 square foot Family Dollar Store planned for 2.15 acres on the Northwest corner of the former Baker’s Nursery property. Wilkinson brought to the meeting site plan drawings and other information that had been requested by the Board at its May meeting. Eleanor Fairbanks Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Eleanor Fairbanks thought she was just going to Sue and Mike Matatt’s home on Sunday, June 17, for cake to celebrate her 100th birthday. Instead she found herself guest of honor at a huge party that included her children, grandchildren, family, friends, presentations from Rensselaer County Legislator Stan Brownell and Hoosick Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly and a bagpipe serenade by Kathy Buck. Hoosick Grange News

It was fire prevention night at Hoosick Grange on June 13. Marion Hynick introduced Hoosick’s Fire Chief, William Rifenburgh. He told us he has been Chief for 14 years. He said their Department is 40 members strong. They cover one-third of the County. He said he works in Albany in Fire Prevention and Patrol. Hoosick Town Board Action – Land Use Law Revised

A Public Hearing was held before the regular Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Monday, June 11. No one attended the hearing to comment on the proposed changes to the Town’s Land Use Law. During the meeting that followed, Local Law No. 1 of 2012 amended Local Law No. 2 of 2009 in relation to permitted uses in light/industrial commercial zones, minimum setbacks, maximum building height limit, non-conforming uses, special permits and definition.

Hoosick Falls 10U And 12U Mid-Season Softball Tournament

The 3rd Annual Hoosick Falls 10U and 12U mid-season softball tournament was held on June 8 – 10. The mid-season tournament was started to allow all league players the chance to play in a fun and competitive style tournament. The weather turned out great; the games were very competitive; the parking lots were packed, and the parents and spectators in attendance were treated to excellent softball games.
