HAYC3 Hoosipalooza Bed Race

Come celebrate Hoosick by watching your fellow community members’ jump on the sheets and push their crazy homemade bed mobiles down Main Street in Hoosick Falls during Hoosipalooza.  Each team will be represented by a business, group, organization or family.  There is no limit to the amount of decorations or spirit each team can boast.  Winners will receive fame and glory throughout our community – and a trophy!
The Bed Race will begin at noon on February 4.  The starting line will be at Barton Avenue and the finish line at Wood Park.  Bed Race teams are welcome to set up their Bed Mobiles at 11 am in the Athletic Field parking lot.  There is still space available for your team!  Call 686-9050 for a registration form.  There is no set price to enter the race, only a donation that will benefit the Hoosick Falls Food Pantry.

Violin Hour With Julia & Co.

Enjoy music from J.S. Bach to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom medley in the beautiful St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 70 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, on Saturday, February 4, at 10 am with 17 year old violinist Julia Baker, who began studying violin at the age of four. Julia improved her classical technique with Cathy Hall and continues to deepen her understanding of music with well known violinist Lilo Kantorowicz-Glick of North Bennington.
This free concert is presented by the Hoosick Area Youth Center and Community Coalition. Donations benefit the Hoosick Food Pantry.

Johnsonville Rescue Squad Breakfast

The Johnsonville Rescue Squad located at 4 River Road will be holding its monthly breakfast on Sunday, February 5, from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Omelets, eggs, sausage, toast, French toast, pancakes, juice, coffee and fruit are on the menu. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children.

Charles W. Cornell

Hoosick – Charles W. Cornell, 97, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had formerly resided on Pine Hill Road in Buskirk, NY, for 93 years and was the husband of the late Lois (Baker) Cornell who died in 1999.
Born on May 30, 1914, in Buskirk, Charles was the son of the late Walter G. and Minnie (Fisk) Cornell. He was educated at the Groveside School House. He was an eighty year member of the First Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls; he served as a Trustee and a Deacon for the Church. [Read more…] about Charles W. Cornell

VPS Control Systems Achieves SHARP Status

A ceremony was held at VPS Control Systems, Inc., this week to acknowledge the company’s achievement of SHARP status. The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) is an OSHA program that recognizes small businesses which operate an exemplary safety and health management system.

RFP For Hoosick Town Hall Engineering Services Is Approved

The Hoosick Town Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, January 18, at 6 pm to review and approve the Request for Proposals (RFP) for Architectural and Engineering Services for Design and Construction Management for the Hoosick Falls Armory and For Construction Of A New Building To Be Used As A Town Hall. Hoosick Grange News – January 2012

Hoosick Grange was delighted to have good weather for its meeting on January 11. This was different from the last two years. Master David Cornell presided over the business. The Lecturer received a thank you from the Hoosick Falls Area Church Association for can goods and money the Grange gave. Eagle Bridge – Randall E. James, 67, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 13, 2012. He resided on Shaker Hollow Road in Eagle Bridge, NY, with his wife Judy Casciare-James.
Born on February 5, 1944, in Hoosick Falls, NY, Randy was the son of the late Everett and Phebe (Rice) James. He graduated with the first graduating class from Hoosick Falls Central School. [Read more…] about Randall E. James
