St. Mary’s Academy Annual Spring Auction
St. Mary’s Academy will hold its Annual Spring Auction on Saturday, April 2. Doors at the school open at 6:15 pm for previewing. The live auction with local auctioneer Ron Seifert begins at 7. A silent auction will take place simultaneously. Admission is $5 and includes light fare and cash bar.

Future Of Hoosick Falls Armory In Doubt

At the Hoosick Town Board meeting on Monday, March 14, Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly announced that the National Guard housed in the Armory on Church Street is moving out of the building. The Supervisor was told the guardsmen that report in Hoosick will now report to Gloversville and Leeds.

Hoosick Falls Celebrates St. Patrick

When you schedule a parade for March in the northeast it’s a hit or miss deal. Some years there will be sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s. Other years you are not so lucky. Hoosick Falls has been holding St. Patrick’s Day parades for the last 20 years. The parade has gone on in snow and rain and good weather. This year was not bad… not great… but not bad. Hoosick Town Board Action – Winter’s Work Is Never Done

Town of Hoosick Highway Superintendent Bill Shiland said the highway crew will be busy for at least the next two to three weeks chipping brush and trees on the small roads as a result of last week’s ice storm. He said all Town roads are open for two lane traffic. He said they have started work on pot holes and will begin sweeping next week. “It’s good to be getting spring complaints, not winter ones,” he said.

At our March 9 meeting of Hoosick Grange Martha Babbitt was in charge of the Lecturer’s program. Martha went to the Northeast Leaders Conference at the Holiday Inn in Latham, NY. The Brewster Brothers And Mixed Up Basketball At Youth Center
The community is invited to an open house celebration this weekend at the Hoosick Area Youth Center, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls.
The celebration begins on Friday, March 18, with a free concert for high school students, featuring The Brewster Brothers, at 8 pm. Doors open at 7:45 pm. Everyone is welcome – members and non-members of the Youth Center.

Special Benefit Dance To Benefit Fire Victims
The North Hoosick Fire Department will hold a special benefit dance on Friday, March 18, from 7 to 10 pm at the firehouse on Rt. 22.
The dance is to benefit the James Bettis family who lost their home to a fire on March 2.
Students who are 9 to 15 years of age and attend the area schools are invited to attend this special dance.
Hubbard Hall Does Our Town

The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall has opened a new production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, directed by Allen McCullough and Randolyn Zinn. McCullough and Zinn have rounded up a fine mix of locals and New York actors in the usual Hubbard Hall tradition of mixing amateur, professional and everything in between. The result is a thoughtful and compelling production.

Local Student Composer In Sage City Symphony’s Annual Youth Concert
On Sunday, March 20, at 4 pm, the Sage City Symphony, under the direction of Michael Finckel, will present its Annual Youth Concert at Bennington College. The concert will be at Greenwall Auditorium in the VAPA Building on the Bennington College Campus.
