Bring Your Dirty Car for a Bath — Girl Scout Troop Washes for Funds

Hoosick Falls Girl Scout Troop #1313 is holding a carwash and bakesale on Saturday, May 23, from 9 am to 1 pm at the People’s Gas & Oil Company on Route 22 in Hoosick Falls (north of the Village). Each wash will cost $5. Baked goods and bottled water will also be for sale. The troop is raising funds for a trip to Washington, DC, in August 2009. They invite members of the community to dirty up their cars and come get a bath!

On Wednesday, May 13, Hoosick Town Supervisor Marilyn Douglas and Highway Superintendent Bill Shiland met with Hoosick Falls Trustee Ric DiDonato and Building Inspector Dick Weeden, Rensselaer County Legislator Lester Goodermote and Tom Blanchard and Steve Len of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to look at some of the problems of Woods Brook.

Barnett Homestead Opens for Season On May 16

The Town of Hoosick is pleased to announce that the Visitor Center (Barnett Homestead)  for the New York State Bennington Battlefield Historic Site, kicks off its 2009 season on Saturday, May 16, from 1 to 4 pm.  The public is invited to experience many aspects of early American rural lifestyle, including sheep shearing, pit cooking and games for children on opening day.

Giffy’s Chicken BBQ

The Town of Hoosick Republican Committee will host a Giffy’s Chicken BBQ on Thursday, May 21, serving from 4 to 6 pm at the Grand Union parking lot in Hoosick Falls. The menu will consist of a  baked chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and cookie.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any Committee person or by calling 518-322-8685 or 686-5992.  There will be a very limited number of meals sold at the door, so please call in your reservation today.
