The New Lebanon Library will hold its annual used book sale the weekend of August 21-23 at the Valley Plaza mall, Routes 20 and 22 in the center of New Lebanon, in a store front next to the New Lebanon Post Office. The hours for the sale are: Friday, August 21, from 12 to 5 pm; Saturday, August 22 from 9 am to 4 pm; and Sunday, August 23, from 9 am to 2 pm. All proceeds from the sale benefit the library. Upcoming Shaker Stone Barn Tours Offer First Chance For Public To Enter In Forty-Three Years
The Shaker Museum Mount Lebanon is hosting guided walking tours inside the massive remains of the North Family Shakers’ Great Stone Barn on Friday, July 31 and Friday, August 7 at 2 pm each day. The tours, which detail the history and current state of the Barn, will leave from the Wash House Visitor Center and Museum Store. This is the first opportunity for the general public to enter inside the structure since a fire destroyed the roof and much of the timber frame 43 years ago. Town’s Old Gravel Pit Is Sold

It’s July, a typically slow, sweaty month, so the big news from the monthly New Lebanon Town Board meeting isn’t really all that big: The Town’s gravel pit has finally sold.
The Board has been discussing the sale of the landlocked gravel pit up on West Hill Road since late last year. Holden and Associates from East Greenbush came and appraised the approximately 2.3 acres of land for $7,000. Some of the Board, however, were hoping for closer to $20,000 for the plot. County Health Department Warns Of Tick Borne Disease: Reported Cases of Anaplasmosis Have Sharply Increased In Rensselaer County
The Rensselaer County Health Department is urging residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to tick borne diseases including Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Babesiosis.
The warning stems from a significant increase in the number of cases of Anaplasmosis found in Rensselaer County in 2015 particularly in the Hoosick Falls/Petersburgh region.
