Four Arrested In Alcohol Sting In The Eastwick Area

State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in the Eastwick area on Saturday, July 6 and several local businesses were caught in the sting. As part of the investigation, Police recruited an undercover underage volunteer to enter each of five establishments where beer or liquor is sold. A Petition Calling For A Referendum On The New Lebanon Sidewalk Project Is Ignored

Back in May the Town of New Lebanon held a second public hearing on the proposed sidewalk project that would build a 1.5 mile walking route through the Town’s business district at a cost of either maybe $1.5 million or maybe $3 million depending on whom one consults, nobody knows for certain.
At that meeting some residents wondered if the project would be put to referendum.  Some felt it could be rather expensive; some felt it could be rather invasive, and many felt it will probably be both.

New Lebanon Town Board Action – Historic Images

It’s summer in New Lebanon. Too nice to be sitting inside at Town Board meetings and so New Lebanon’s Town Board breezed through its monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Town Hall’s new air conditioner contributing the only uproar of the night as it cycled on and off.

Moose Attacks VW; Meat Served To NLCS Graduates

Mike Clement of East Nassau was on his way to work early Saturday morning when something big came crashing through his windshield.
“The car just stopped!” said Clement, a breakfast chef at the chic yoga retreat, Kripalu, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. One second he was doing 55 mph on Route 20 just east of Lebanon Valley Speedway and the next second Clement’s car, a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, was dead on the highway. There was now a large hole where the windscreen had been and for some reason the steering wheel was bent.

Local Students Graduate From Tech Valley High School

Twenty-nine students from across the Tech Valley Region closed one chapter of their learning careers Saturday, June 15, as they graduated from Tech Valley High School. But for all of the graduates, the next chapter of learning is right around the corner as 93 percent of the class is heading on to college and the remaining two students are enlisting in the United States Air Force to pursue careers as officers and pilots.

Banjo Master Tony Trischka To Pick At PS21

PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century will present Grammy nominated banjo master and International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year Tony Trischka on Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 pm. Trischka, who has been called the “ Godfather of the Banjo,” will be joined by Darol Anger on fiddle and Michael Daves on guitar for an evening of acoustic music.

New Lebanon Town Board Action – Landfill Closure Nears After Three Decades

After 32 years of discussions, disagreements, wrangling and concessions, an agreement between Columbia County and the Town of New Lebanon over responsibility for the closure of the Town’s landfill was voted on and accepted at Tuesday’s Town Board meeting.

Route 20 Bridge Reopening Two Weeks Ahead Of Schedule

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Commissioner Joan McDonald has announced that the bridge carrying Route 20 over Wyomanock Creek in New Lebanon was reopened to traffic. The bridge is opening two weeks ahead of schedule following a project to replace the structure’s concrete deck. The bridge was closed to traffic in April and work was expected to last through the end of June.
The construction contractor for the nearly $500,000 project is Bette & Cring of Latham, Albany County.
