The New Lebanon Library announces the following October events. All of these events are free and will take place at the Library which is located at 550 State Route 20.
• October 12 – Swap, Not Shop! Halloween Costume Exchange – 6:30 pm. Bring a bag of gently used, clean clothing and accessories suitable for Halloween costumes and an additional empty bag. After the swap, you’ll leave with a bag of “new to you” items. Any left over items will be donated to Goodwill.

Tsatsawassa Fire Co. Breakfast
The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will resume its monthly breakfast on Sunday, October 16, with servings from 8 am until noon. Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce, beverages and eggs prepared to your specifications.
Support your local fire company while visiting with friends and neighbors and enjoying a hearty breakfast to start your day.

Mike Benson Wins Independence Party Line For New Lebanon Town Supervisor

New Lebanon Supervisor candidate Mike Benson’s campaign to bring new leadership to the Town of New Lebanon government received an important boost with Benson winning a write-in bid to secure the Independence nomination in the September 13 primary.
The primary victory is important, as it strengthens Benson’s position on the ballot. Benson has already secured the Republican and Conservative nominations.

Special Families Market At The Lebanon Valley Farmers Market
On Sunday, October 9, from 10 am to 2 pm there will be a Special Families Market at the Lebanon Valley Farmers Market in the Mid-Town Mall on Route 20/22 in New Lebanon. There will be pony rides from 11 am to 1 pm, jewelry making, a goat milk demonstration, grass planting and much more including live music by the Matchstick Architects.
All events are free. Please come help celebrate the growing season and support our local farmers.

Book Group
The New Lebanon Book Group will discuss the novel My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira on Sunday, October 2, at 11 am at the New Lebanon Library.
Rich with historical detail and full of the tragedies and challenges of wartime, this is the story of a young woman’s struggle to become a doctor during the Civil War. According to the Princeton Review, Oliveira’s debut novel powerfully evokes the atmosphere of the period.

New Lebanon Town Supervisor’s Thoughts On Hannaford Withdrawal

Yesterday’s news regarding the withdrawal of the Hannaford Supermarket from our Town has sent shock waves down the valley as residents have reacted with horror and outrage. This “cog” in the wheel of our economic base was anticipated as the saving factor to our local economy that is struggling to survive and with so much hope for the future; there was reason to be uplifted despite the bleak national scene. New Lebanon was somehow going to rise above it all and be strong.

No Hannaford Supermarket For New Lebanon

Hannaford is pulling out. The Town of New Lebanon has found that oasis on its desert horizon to be nothing more than a mirage. The Hannaford Supermarket will not be that hope of the Town’s administration and its residents of a way to get out of the “food desert,” the term used to describe a community with no easy access to fresh and healthy produce.
