Berlin Library Game Night

The Berlin Free Town Library will sponsor Game Night on Thursday, February 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Children along with their parents are invited to come share in an evening of fun. There will be a variety of board games available at the Library, or if you have a favorite from home to share, feel free to bring yours along as well.
Join us in sharing an evening without TV or computer games.  Light refreshments will be provided.

John Edward Longo Graduates From SUNY Oneonta

John Edward Longo of West Stephentown was one of 263 students recently honored by the State University of New York College at Oneonta for completion of their requirements for graduation in the Fall 2009 semester. The December 6 recognition ceremony, which was attended by over 1,000 guests, was hosted by College President Nancy Kleniewski and was held in the Dewar Arena of the Alumni Field House. Longo earned a BA in Music Industry.

Zachary Goyer On Dean’s List

Zachary Goyer was named to the Dean’s Honor List for the Fall 2009 Semester at Manhattan College School of Business. Zachary is a senior attending Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, on a baseball scholarship. He is a 2006 graduate of Berlin Central School and is the son of Bruce and Delinda Goyer of Grafton.

Berlin Rescue Squad Café

On February 13 the Berlin Rescue Squad will be holding a Hot Dog Charlie Night. From 5 to 7 pm. Dedicated volunteers will be serving these delicious hot dogs to the public. Prices will be 6 dogs for $5 or a baker’s dozen for $10. We will also have soda and water available for purchase at $1 each. There will also be chili available for sale.

Tsatsawassa Fire Co. Breakfast

The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will offer its monthly breakfast on Sunday, February 21, with servings from 8 am until noon. Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce and eggs prepared to your specifications.
The Fire House is located behind the Post Office near the intersection of Routes 20 and 66 north in the hamlet of Brainard. For more information, call 766-3815.

Winter Fest Ice Fishing Tournament Results

The grand prize winner was Paul Greenberg with a 24.5” pickerel. The fishing tournament was sponsored by the Homewaters Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Friends of the Grafton Lake State Park.

Winter Fest At Grafton Lakes State Park

At 19 degrees with a slight breeze sneaking through, it wasn’t the warmest Winter Fest, but it was a gorgeous day regardless. The sun was shining upon Graftonites as they frolicked in the snow up at Grafton Lakes State Park. The day kicked off bright and early for the ice fishers who were out on the ice as early as 5:30 am trying to catch the first prize. The first events that were open to the public were ice skating on Long Pond, that was open all day. There were also dog sled presentations starting at 10 am. There were six huskies that a presenter showed to the public, and he answered many questions.
