Boy Scout Troop #222 Goes Rock Climbing

Local Boy Scout Troop #222 spent hours rock climbing, exploring the caves and riding the zip line at the Albany Indoor Rock Gym last week. All Former New York Service Members Entitled To Funeral Honors

All New Yorkers who have served in the military, even if they never served in combat, are entitled to receive military honors at their funerals, according to Donald E. Roy, Director of the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard.
“In 2009, the Honor Guard performed honors at over 10,400 funeral services across the state. But too many former soldiers and their families still don’t know they are entitled to basic military honors for any service, not just a 20-year career or combat service,” Roy said.

On December 8 the community members of the Berlin Central School District voted against funding the building plan put forth by the District administration and the Board of Education. The overwhelming NO vote was not due solely to the difficult economic times we are all experiencing, as our interim Superintendent has suggested.

Letter To The Editor – The Need For Office Space Still Exists

To the editor:
Apparently the Town of Berlin is in dire need of adequate office space. I understand that inclusive of Ann Maxon’s basement, all important Town records are now stored within 580 sq. feet of storage area. In many instances our vital records are now vulnerable to water damage, mold, etc. Gosh, not what I think a 21st Century community should have to deal with. Probably an “advisory committee” should be established to initiate a search for adequate storage facilities for these Town records.

On January 25 the Grafton Planning Board met for approximately five minutes. All members were present. There wasn’t much on the agenda. Because of the winter season there’s not much going on in the Grafton planning board world. At this meeting the minutes were approved and that was all that was needed to be done. The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 22, because of the Presidents Day holiday on the third Monday.

Superbowl® Sub Sale

St. Mary’s Academy will be holding a Superbowl® Sunday Sub Sale on February 7. All subs must be pre-ordered but will be made your way. Twelve inch subs with turkey, ham, roast beef, veggie or Italian mix are available with all the fixings for $7 each.  Subs will be available for pick up on Sunday, February 7, from 11 am to 1 pm at St. Mary’s.
