Stephentown Celebrates Veterans Day

Bob Reiter started off the sixth annual Veterans Day Parade at Stephentown’s Veterans Park asking for a moment of silence for the victims of the Fort Hood massacre. The Rensselaer County Veterans Service Director said it was a sad day in America when we have to watch our backs at home while fighting a war abroad.

Graffiti Vandalism In Berlin Church

The 658 and 279 vandalism has moved to breaking and entering and desecration of church property. Graffiti of 658, other numbers, the letters TB and Nazi and Satanic symbols were found painted in the cellar and outside south wall of Landmark Baptist Church this Friday. Whoever did this gained entrance into the cellar by removing a door which had been screwed shut. State Police investigators are looking into the matter.

Manchester Declared The Winner In Petersburgh Town Board Race

Officials from the Rensselaer County Board of Elections came out to Petersburgh on Thursday, November 5, re-counted the votes in the close race between Amy Manchester and Teresa Scicchitano-deWaal and determined that Amy Manchester had been re-elected to her seat on the Petersburgh Town Board. Retiring Police Chief Gives His Views On Hoosick Falls

Representatives from area Police Departments, Village officials and friends attended the party for newly retired Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Whalen on Friday, November 6, at the Hoosick Falls Fire House. November 5 was the Chief’s last day on the job and, after a week’s vacation time, he was officially retired from the Department.

There was standing room only at the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday evening, November 10. Dr. Raymond Hyde and his wife addressed the Board regarding properties they own at 43 and 71 Wilder Avenue. Dr. Hyde said they came up from Virginia to “straighten my name.
