PVMCC is pleased to announce an award of $750 from the Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant to fund the purchase of teen recreation equipment. The popular monthly Teen Night Program will resume again on April 24.

The talk by M.E. Kemp, writer of historical mysteries, on Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692 to the Stephentown Historical Society has been rescheduled a second time to Monday, March 16, because of weather. The meeting is at 7:30 pm at the Heritage Center on Garfield Road in Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. For directions, telephone 518-733-5675.
The Girl Scout Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball will provide an evening of dancing for the whole family. The Ball is Saturday, March 28, from 7 to 10 pm at the Walter B. Howard Elementary School in West Lebanon. Semiformal or formal attire is required.
Tickets, which cost $5, are available at Angel’s Trumpet and at the Stephentown Memorial Library.
The Shatford Little League will be holding its final registration on Saturday, March 21, from 10 am to noon at Shatford Park in New Lebanon. Children ages 5 to 16 who live within the Shatford Little League boundaries in Eastern Rensselaer and Eastern Columbia Counties are eligible to enroll to play Shatford Little League Baseball.

Stephentown – Richard Frederick Brown, 64, a lifelong resident of Stephentown, NY, died on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, PA, due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Berlin – Ralph Otis Oakes, Jr., 46, of Satterlee Hollow Road in Berlin, NY, died on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after being stricken on his way to the hospital.
Stephentown – Freling S. Smith died peacefully at home on March 4, 2009. Born on November 30, 1915, in New York City, he was the son of Freling H. and Minnie Allen Smith. Mr. Smith attended the Collegiate School in Manhattan and Rollins College. As a young man, he moved to Stephentown, NY, where he farmed and where he raised his family.
