Youth Baseball And Softball  Will Be At HFCS This Season

Over the past several weeks, the Town of Hoosick Youth Baseball & Softball Board members have been fielding questions from concerned parents about the presence of PFOAs at the ball fields, working with the EPA to understand potential outcomes of the soil testing performed at the baseball/softball fields, and reaching out in our community and neighboring towns to understand what options we have available should the results of the soil samples negatively impact our ability to play ball at our fields this season.  [Read more…] about Youth Baseball And Softball  Will Be At HFCS This Season

PFOA Found In The Petersburgh Municipal Water System

Levels Just Below Critical Threshold

Initial test results from the New York State Department of Health have found PFOA in Petersburgh’s water supply, at levels between 93.3 and 95.9 parts per trillion.  The most recent US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) advisory level for PFOA in drinking water is 400 parts per trillion, Region 2 of the Environmental Protection Agency about a month ago said they are developing a “lifetime health advisory level for PFOA” and recommended in the interim that people not consume water with a level at or above 100 ppt. Hoosick Falls Girls Cruise Into Semifinals, Win Big Twice

The number one seeded HFCS girls team (20-2) had two wins over the past week to earn their way into the Section II semifinals. First up was Broadalbin-Perth, a team that had to win a game to get into the playoffs, then Stillwater, a team the Panthers defeated twice during the regular season. Grafton Planning Board Hears Plans For New Business And Approves Subdivision For Former Elementary School

Hearing no opposition but in receipt of a letter of concern, the Town of Grafton Planning Board voted unanimously to approve both the Environmental Impact Study and the actual subdivision of property at the one-time elementary school at the corner of State Route 2 and Babcock Lake Road.  The plan had originally called for just the school building and parking lots to be subdivided from the rest of the property.  [Read more…] about Grafton Planning Board Action
