Since his graduation from Berlin Central Schools in 1983, Grafton’s Ed Bly has been involved with law enforcement. That path from an Army Milltary Police Officer through the ranks of the NYS Department of Corrections and into service with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department, has now culminated with Bly’s appointment by new Sheriff Pat Russo as his Undersheriff. As the old year drew to a close, the recently re-elected Berlin town officials gathered at the Town Hall for a swearing in ceremony. Outgoing Justice Joe Rechen did the honors, as the town officials stepped up one by one to raise their right hand and place their left on a bible from the 1980s that has been in Supervisor Rob Jaeger’s family for some time. This past year ended with a meeting of the 2015 version of the Grafton Town Board, the subject being the year end settlement of the books. The Board audited and approved all the outstanding bills and gave them to the bookkeeper to enter into the records. Being able to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All State is no small accomplishment, and two musicians from Hoosick Falls High School recently did so. Senior Darrell Holovach and junior Devin Weingold both were selected to perform as part of Area All State in Saratoga Springs on November 21, 2015.
