Driver Dozes Off, Truck Leaves Route 22

At 7 am Saturday morning, a J & J Trucking driver fell asleep traveling north on Route 22 about three-tenths of a mile south of the state highway department garage. The empty milk tanker truck he was driving went off the east side of the road and tore through the underbrush for approximately 200 feet before coming to a stop. After the truck hit a concrete culvert, everything in the truck’s path was cleared to the dirt, suggesting some of the wheels may have been sheared off. McGovern Fundraiser A Big Success

This year’s 16th Annual Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund Volleyball Tournament was a tremendous success. According to co-founders Lisa Ferrannini and Donna Cuddihy, the event raised over $11,700 to help local residents suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Town Of Berlin Still Seeking To Resolve 

Road Inventory Dispute With NYS DOT

The Berlin Town Board opened its meeting this past week with the unanimous approval of the minutes of its previous gathering, and accepted the Town Clerk’s report, that included a summation of revenues received of $6,870.50 in local monies along with $2,503.28 in non-local funds for a total of $9,373.78.  Water District 2 Commissioner Jim Wynn said he had to change a shut off valve on a bank owned piece of property in the district, but also heard the building may be donated.  That is all he knows about the subject at this time. HF Water Restriction

Due to the lack of rain this summer and on the recommendation of the Hoosick Falls Water Department, the Village Board has placed the Village on water restrictions. Please do not wash your car, water your lawn/garden, etc. This is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

New Playground Design Presented 

At Hoosick Town Board Meeting

An update on the Castle Playground project was presented by Wendy Larson of the Hoosick Kiwanis Club and Karen Armstrong of Parkitects, a park and playground design group located in Lansing, New York. Armstrong, who has worked with many communities to design and build playgrounds that address the specific needs of each one. Nearby communities they have worked with include Sand Lake, Malta, and Wilton, but they have completed many projects throughout upstate New York. [Read more…] about Hoosick Town Board Action

John E. Parkinson Of Petersburgh Honored By NYS Senator Marchione For Service In The Korean War

Petersburgh resident John E. Parkinson was recently inducted into the 2015 Veteran’s Hall of Fame by New York State Senator Kathy Marchione (R-Halfmoon). Parkinson was joined by six other honorees from Rensselaer, Saratoga and Columbia counties, in a ceremony held at the NYS Military Museum in Saratoga Springs. [Read more…] about John E. Jena Case and Sarah Barton started “Moms on a Mission to End the Trend” to offer health and fitness coaching and consulting to assist people who want a healthier lifestyle. Their goal is to end the trend of eating processed foods that aren’t providing good nutrition and the sedentary lives that so many people lead. Grafton Town Board Hears More About Time Warner Cable

Two hundred feet off the main road is the magic number when dealing with Time Warner construction in the town.  Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck has been dealing with the cable company’s construction crews, and told the Town Board and audience that if your home is more than 200 feet away from the power lines on the road, a special junction box, called a doghouse, will have to be put in on your property from which the rest of the cable will be run.  [Read more…] about Grafton Town Board Action
