Congressman Gibson Visits Grafton Summer Youth Program

On Monday afternoon, August 10, U.S. Congressman Chris Gibson, representing the 19th District of NY, visited the Grafton Summer Youth Program. On hand to greet him were Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino, County Youth Director Pierce Hoyt, County Summer Feed Coordinator Greg Rogers, Grafton Town Supervisor Frank Higgins and Town Councilwoman Barbara Messenger. Hoosick To Consider Regulation Of Solar Farms

At the August 10 Hoosick Town Board meeting, members spent considerable time discussing solar farms and the potential they can have, both positive and negative, for the town. They decided that input from the community is important, and they scheduled a public hearing at 6 pm at the Town offices on August 24. Petersburgh Library Raising Funds For Ramp Improvements

Valente Quarry Under Fire From Grafton Town Officials

At the Grafton Town Board Meeting on August 10, the R.J. Valente Quarry came in for some criticism. At last month’s meeting, Doug LaRocque told the tale of an extremely loud and violent blast at the mine that he said started an electrical fire on a pole next to Route 2. At the public comment period at the beginning of this month’s meting, LaRocque thanked Supervisor Frank Higgins for relaying the townspeople’s concerns to DEC, which regulates the mine.
