HAYC3 To Host Health And Fitness Expo

Exhibitors Still Being Accepted

The Health And Fitness Expo will be held at the HAYC3 Armory, 80 Church Street, Hoosick Falls,  on Saturday, January 10, from 9 am until 1 pm. This family-friendly event is open to the public and will feature over 30 exhibitors including dietitians, reiki practitioners, skin and health experts, fitness instructors and more. Free workshops, educational programs on common chronic illnesses, free health screenings and health and wellness opportunities will take place throughout the day.

Physicians and other local health care providers will be on hand to discuss services available to you or a loved one to manage health issues.

David Grover And Linda Worster At The New Lebanon Library

Local favorites David Grover and Linda Worster will be performing together at the New Lebanon Library on Sunday, December 28, from 2 to 4 pm.  All are welcome, and the event is free

David Grover has earned countless awards including a Grammy nomination and Artist of the Year. He spent many years as Arlo Guthrie’s lead guitar and band leader. Grover and his Big Bear Band have performed at the White House, opened the Goodwill Games, appeared on The Today Show, performed with the Detroit Symphony for their Youth Series and played for the delegates of the United Nations.

Linda Worster has toured as a solo musician throughout New England, New York and New Jersey, performing in many coffeehouses, colleges, churches, healing centers, cafés and clubs. She has opened for many well-known artists including Livingston Taylor, Harry Chapin, Paul Stookey, Leo Kotke, David Bromberg, Bill Staines, Dave Mallett, Jonathan Edwards, Joan Baez, Richie Havens and Taj Mahal.

Erika Pelletier Of Petersburgh Completes Student Leadership Training At National Conference

Erika Pelletier of Petersburgh attended the National Conference on Student Leadership in Lake Buena Vista, FL, recently.

Pelletier, who is studying in the Early Childhood academic program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy was chosen as one of eight student representatives from the College. While at the four-day conference, Pelletier completed the student leadership training and was involved in many other development, leadership and networking activities. The conference also offers specific workshops that help student leaders leverage their roles as they transition from campus to a professional career.

Reid Rascoe Promoted By NY Army National Guard

Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Reid Rascoe from Stephentown, serving with the Company A, 1-224th Aviation Security and Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Specialist.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

These promotions additionally recognize the best qualified Soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber Citizen Soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.

Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company Monthly Breakfast

The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company, serving Brainard and East Nassau and surrounding community, will hold its monthly Breakfast on Sunday, December 21, from 8 to 11:30 am at their firehouse on Firehouse Lane behind the post office near the intersection of Routes 20 and 66N in the hamlet of Brainard.

Breakfast offers your choice of pancakes or French toast, together with bacon or sausage, eggs cooked to your order, applesauce and an assortment of beverages for your donation of $7 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12 and free for children under age five.

Santa To Appear? 

It is our understanding that Santa will arrive about 9 am to greet breakfast diners, most especially the children. Also available during the breakfast hours will be a cookbook offering the cookie recipes entered into the Village of East Nassau’s recent cookie contest as well as a limited number of the commemorative 2014 Bell Park ornaments.

Berlin Rescue Squad Café

On Friday, December 19, the Berlin Rescue Squad will be holding its monthly delicious Fish Fry Dinner. For $10 you can enjoy a hearty helping of fried cod on a roll, French fries, coleslaw, brownie and soda or water. Eat in or take out – it’s up to you.

We have also decided to serve mini-hot dogs as well. These can be purchased in a meal – $10 for 10 dogs with fries, brownie and beverage – $5 for 4 dogs with fries, brownie and beverage or purchased a la carte. Call-in orders are welcome, the Firehouse number is 658-2890. The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Berlin Fire Department. Please call Stan at 269-8646 with any questions.

North Hoosick Fire Dept. Kids Christmas Party

The North Hoosick Fire Department will be sponsoring a Kids Christmas Party for the general public on Sunday, December 14, at 1 pm at the fire station on Rt. 22. A visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause is expected by 1:30 pm.

Parents who bring children are asked to bring a gift for their child to open once Santa arrives. A Christmas (cartoon) movie will be shown on the big screen for all to enjoy. Refreshments will be served. There is no admission fee for this event.

Grafton VFD And Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be serving an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, December 27, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy & biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu.

The cost is $9 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids five and under. We look forward to serving you!

Stephentown Texas Hold’em

The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, December 20, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5:30 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

No advance registration is required. A donation of $35 per player will be accepted and give the player 6,000 in chip value. Players can make an additional $10 donation at the door for 2,000 extra in chip value. This tournament will pay one place for every ten players with a minimum of four places and a maximum of nine places.

A free buffet will be served at the first break, and refreshments will be available.
