Petersburgh Town Board Gets Business Done In Spite Of Ruckus

The regular Petersburgh Town Board meeting began, as it often does, with comments from Tom Berry. He began by asking why the Gradall has not been repaired and is now being sold off. He asserted that the swing motor on it could be repaired for under $2,000 and asked why it wasn’t repaired.  He wondered how the Town is going to do ditching and culvert replacement without it.

Town Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison was not present to respond, but Tim Church, who is on the highway oversight committee, said the Gradall is an obsolete piece of equipment and it’s so old that nobody wants to work on it.

Stephentown Town Board Action – A Midummer Night’s Meeting

Midsummer is not a time for long Board meetings. The regular meeting of the Stephentown Town Board for July was quite short. The Board paid bills amounting to $18,755.26 from the General Account and $72,526.18 from the Highway Account. Aside from that there were no resolutions passed.

Grafton Planning Board – Hearing Five by Four

Five public hearings were held before the regular Grafton Planning Board meeting on Monday, July 21. The hearings began at 6:20 pm and were allocated either five or ten minutes, lengths determined by Planning Board Chairman Tom Withcuskey based on his best guess as to the interest in the applications being heard.

Hoosick Planning Board – Brimmer Farm Project Stalled

The Town of Hoosick Planning Board had a full agenda on Monday, July 21. However, four of those on the agenda didn’t appear, and the one large project, the Brimmer Farm Subdivision for South Street couldn’t be dealt with because there was not a quorum. The meeting was over in less than a half hour.

Kendra Roberts, 11, of Berlin participated in the June 21 Relay for Life in Bennington.  After five years as a team participant, Kendra created and led her own team, Kendra Kares, raising an impressive $1,304 to support Relay for Life’s fight against cancer. As part of her fundraising efforts, Kendra made a quilt to raffle off. Of the total support brought in by the team, Kendra raised $963 on her own, $463 of which was brought in by the quilt raffle.
