Spaghetti Dinner In Stephentown To Benefit The Library

The Friends of the Stephentown Memorial Library are cooking up a scrumptious spaghetti dinner on Saturday, May 18, to benefit the Library. The dinner will be served from 4 to 7 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church on Garfield Road. The pasta will be served with slowly simmered homemade vegetarian sauce with or without sweet Italian sausage on the side, accompanied by tossed salad, bread and butter, homemade cake and a choice of beverages. The price of the all you can eat dinner for those aged thirteen and over is $12, for those aged six to twelve, it’s $6, and age five and under eat free.  You may dine there or take out your dinners. The Church building is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 518-733-5923.

Stephentown Cemetery Association Meeting Rescheduled

The Annual Meeting of the Stephentown Cemetery Association that had been scheduled for May 4 was postponed. It will be held on May 11 at 1 pm at the home of Lisa Wheeler, 622 East Road in Stephentown.
Any plot owners who would like to attend but cannot,  please call Lisa Wheeler at 733-5568 for minutes or to address any problems.

Volunteers Needed To Make A Bocce Court In Grafton

The Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton is looking for a few volunteers to help build a bocce court. New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School To Host Annual Memorial Day Assembly

On Thursday, May 23, at 9 am, the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting its Third Annual Memorial Day Assembly to honor our servicemen and women and all who gave their lives in defense of our country.
All veterans and current members of any branch of the military are invited to join the American Legion Post #1236 of New Lebanon and the Berkshire Chapter 65 Vietnam Veterans of America in the high school gymnasium as our honored guests. Family and community members are also welcomed and encouraged to attend the festivities in memory of our fallen heroes and in celebration of those who serve.

The Savvy Caregiver

The Savvy Caregiver Program, from the Alzheimer’s Association, is a free, six session training series that helps family caregivers better understand the changes their loved ones are experiencing and how to best provide individualized care along the continued decline associated with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The course will be held on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm on June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 3 at the Brunswick Community Library, 4118 State Highway 2, Troy. Kidney Fundraisers In Memory Of Steve Kellar

The family of Steve Kellar will be raising money for the Northeast Kidney Foundation in his memory. On Saturday, May 18, from 4:30 to 7 pm, there will be a spaghetti dinner at the Berlin Firehouse. Adults: $8, Children 3-10: $5, Children 2 & Under: FREE. There will also be a Coffee Cup Auction. New and handmade items can be donated. Take-outs are available.
On Sunday, June 9, is the “Walk for Kidneys” at the Crossings of Colonie. If you would like to join the team Steve’s Angels, please contact Tiffany Kellar at 658-2843

The Annual Great Strides Walk Is May 19

On Sunday, May 19, the Kempf family and many friends will be at Grafton Lakes State Park for the annual Great Strides walk to benefit Cystic Fibrosis. Their team, Miles for Mathew, honors their son with the disease and has become one of the largest teams in the Capital District.
Please consider walking with the Miles for Mathew team or making a donation. The walk begins at 12 pm. For more information, call 573-9790.

Stephentown VFD Texas Hold’em

The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Departmentwill hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, May 18, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5:30 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break, and refreshments will be available.
No advance registration is required, and a donation of $35 per player will be accepted. Players can make an additional $10 donation at the door for 1,000 extra chips. This tournament will pay one place for every ten players with a minimum of four places and a maximum of nine places.

Berlin Rescue Squad Café

On Friday, May 17, the Berlin Rescue Squad will be holding its monthly delicious Fish Fry Dinner. For $10 you can come enjoy a hearty helping of fried cod on a roll, French fries, coleslaw, a brownie and soda or water. Eat in or take out; its up to you. Call-in orders are welcome. The Firehouse number is 658-2890. The dinner will be held from 5 to 7 pm at the Berlin Fire House.
