The West Hoosick Fire Department will hold an All You Can Eat Mothers Day Breakfast at the firehouse on Sunday, May 12, from 7:30 to 11 am. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Co. Breakfast
Members of the Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company, serving Brainard and East Nassau and surrounding area, will hold their final monthly breakfast until autumn on Sunday, May 19, from 8 to 11:30 am at the firehouse located on Firehouse Lane behind the post office near the intersection of Routes 20 and 66N in Brainard.
There will, however, be a breakfast at the firehouse for the benefit of the Cub Scouts on Sunday, June 16, during the same hours and with the same menu so mark your calendars and support the Cub Scouts who are sponsored by the Fire Company.
Breakfast offers your choice of pancakes or French toast served with bacon or sausage, eggs cooked to your order, applesauce and an assortment of breakfast beverages at a cost of $6; children 5 to 12 are served for $3 and those under five are served free.
The Johnsonville Rescue Squad BBQ And Open House
The Johnsonville Rescue Squad located at 4 River Road will be holding a Chicken BBQ/Open house Saturday, May 18, from 4 to 7 pm for National EMS Recognition Week. There will be free blood pressure readings, pulse, blood glucose testing, ambulance tours and fun for the kids. You may eat in or take out. The price is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12. The Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466 located in Poestenkill invites the public to its Monthly Buffet Breakfast on May 12 from 8 to 11 am. Wild Edible Plant Program
A Wild Edible Plant Program will be held on Sunday, May 12, from 10 am until 4 pm at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, 475 Dyken Pond Road, Cropseyville. Learn plant identification, foraging techniques and how to prepare many delicious native wild edible plants. This spring program will focus on seasonal availability of shoots and greens. Whether you’re a complete novice with wild plants or an experienced forager, you will gain something from this class.
The fee is $15 per person, $12 for members. Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the Center at 518-658-2055 or dykenpond@fairpoint.net. The Future Of New York’s Forests
On Sunday, May 19, the New York Forest Owners Association, as part of their “Restore New York’s Woodlands” initiative, will host a free woods walk to celebrate the many benefits forests provide and discuss solutions for the threats they face. Walter Kersch will lead the woods walk on the trails of the Pine Ridge XC Ski Area, 1463 Plank Road, Petersburgh, at 9 am. A band sawmill demonstration is included.
Wear sturdy shoes for hiking, dress for the weather and apply your preferred insect repellent.

Volunteers Needed For National Trails Day
National Trails Day is the perfect opportunity to help clean up local parks. On Saturday, June 1, the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park and Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center will be hosting the 20th Annual National Trails Day – the nation’s annual celebration of trails. Both parks invite volunteers of all ages to help clean up and improve trails on Saturday morning and indulge in the trail activities they enjoy most in the afternoon.
Registration will begin at 9 am. at both parks; refreshments and snacks will be available. Cleanup and improvement of both trail systems will take place between 9:30 am and 12 pm and will be followed by a complimentary barbecue picnic for all volunteers. After the barbecue, participants are encouraged to enjoy the trails and parks. Reservations must be made in advance for the barbecue by calling the Grafton Lakes State Park Office or Dyken Pond Office no later than May 30.

Funeral Service For Kathryn B. Page
Hoosick Falls – Kathryn Bingham Page passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, VT, following a long illness. She leaves her sister, Dianne Bingham Stevens of Hoosick Falls, along with two sons. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 2 pm in the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls, 80 Main Street, with a time of fellowship to follow. Arrangements are by the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh, NY.
Sounds Of Spring In New Lebanon

Parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon celebrated the installation of their new pipe organ last year with a concert dubbed “Sounds of Spring.” With spring busting out again in New Lebanon, what better way to welcome it than with a second annual “Sounds of Spring” concert. On May 5 the Church was also participating in a global event. It being the 850th anniversary of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, there were 850 organ concerts around the world celebrating the occasion.
