Sometimes such properties are bought by other banks, but there is no surety of that. The Bank of America branch in Averill Park was closed last April, but Crawford said there are no plans to close the branch in New Lebanon. The company, he said, is exploring the option of placing a full service ATM facility in Berlin after the bank is closed.

by Bea Peterson
A Town safety deposit box came to light last year when the Town received a bill from Key Bank for $2,379. It appears the box was established when Sean Casey was Town Supervisor. No one has any idea what is in the box, and there is no record of any bills being sent to the Town before 2011. No one knows where the key to the mysterious box is. It takes at least two people to be present to open it, and none of those who rented the box are on the Board any longer. The Board members were not inclined to pay the fee. Councilman Bruce Patire said he would talk to people at the bank. Otherwise the box may be turned over to the State. [Read more…] about Hoosick Town Board Action – Bank Robbing The Town?
