Chris Zema Earns Degree From SUNY New Paltz

The State University of New York at New Paltz recently conferred over 500 undergraduate degrees. Chris Zema, a resident of Stephentown was among the university’s graduates. Zema received a BA in English.
He was also named to the  Dean’s List for the Fall 2011 semester.

Angela Longhi Named To SUNY Oneonta Dean’s List

Angela Longhi, from Petersburgh, was among the 1,458 students who earned Dean’s List honors for the fall 2011 semester at SUNY Oneonta. To qualify for the Dean’s List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more

Corned Beef And Cabbage Dinner

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a buffet style corned beef and cabbage dinner on Saturday, March 17, from 4 to 8 pm at the Grafton VFW/Firehall on South Road. The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for kids six to twelve years and free for kids five and under.

Johnsonville Rescue Squad Breakfast

The Johnsonville Rescue Squad located at 4 River Road will be holding its monthly breakfast on Sunday, February 5, from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Omelets, eggs, sausage, toast, French toast, pancakes, juice, coffee and fruit are on the menu. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children.

Grafton – Charles J. “Charlie” Hamill, 66, died suddenly on Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Hamill and Mary Frey Hamill and the loving husband of Jenny Lynn Spiak Hamill of Grafton, NY.  They were married for 39 years.

Joan Rogers

Hoosick Falls – Joan (Hewson) Rogers, 82, passed peacefully on January 22, 2012, at her residence on High Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Joan was the wife of Raymond Rogers, who died in 2009.
Born in Troy, NY, on December 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Dora (Gooden) Hewson. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a 1948 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. [Read more…] about Joan Rogers

Hoosick Falls – Jerry D. DeLuca, 87, formerly of High Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, died peacefully at the Eddy Village Green Nursing Facility in Slingerlands, NY, on Saturday evening, January 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 8, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, he was the son of the late Santo and Laura D’Amico DeLuca. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Marjorie Cranston DeLuca, on February 23, 2010. They were married on December 17, 1977.

Hoosick – Charles W. Cornell, 97, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had formerly resided on Pine Hill Road in Buskirk, NY, for 93 years and was the husband of the late Lois (Baker) Cornell who died in 1999.
Born on May 30, 1914, in Buskirk, Charles was the son of the late Walter G. and Minnie (Fisk) Cornell. He was educated at the Groveside School House. Berlin Municipal Center Is Reborn With Purchase Of Berlin Lumber

At its first regular meeting of the new year the Berlin Town Board voted unanimously to purchase the former Berlin Lumber facility for use as a municipal center that will include a Town Hall and Town Highway Garage. Almost 40 people attended the meeting, and it seemed that they might have been there just to get a view of the new Town Board in action with its three new Board members, Tara Cinney, Dean Maxon and John Winn.
