Winter is upon us and so is the final show of 2011’s Music and Art Café. We were not able to hold the Music and Art Café in November due to calendar constraints, but we are happy to announce that Friday, December 9, will be our November make-up date. Typically we do not hold a Music and Art Café in December because the holiday season can be hectic, so this year we have a treat!

HAYC3 Focuses On Art
Holiday Folk Art Classes For Children
The Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) is offering a series of Saturday morning folk art classes in time for your children to create holiday projects. Each class will run from 10 to 11:30 am at HAYC3, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls.
Saturday Sessions are $10 for members ($25 for all three) and $15 for non-members ($40 for all three).

If you have been paying attention to the discussion around the Goodermote-Willis building referendum you know I do not support this plan. The primary reason being that I was not aware of a plan until it was presented at the September BOE meeting when I was informed that I would not be able to play a role in the planning process. Given the back room development of this plan by Ms. Goodermote and Mr. Willis without any other Board members input I feel this is their plan alone and does not represent what I feel is in our District’s best interest. To the Editor:
I would like everyone in the Berlin Central School District who cares about our children and/or our school tax bills to continue, or in some cases to begin, being vigilant regarding the plans and activities of our current School Board.
We MUST also, in whatever forms are available to us, communicate our opinions and desires for our District to said School Board!
A few years ago, the announcement of the intention to consolidate our 3 elementary schools into one building began a growing firestorm of controversy that has continued and evolved to this day. That evolution itself is an interesting topic to me but not the most important.

Letter To The Editor – Make A Wish Makes A Difference
Dear editor:
About a year ago our son (Dalton Stevens) was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called MECP2 duplication syndrome. There are only two hundred known cases in the United States. It is a progressive disorder which causes a lot of respiratory infections, and it becomes life threatening after a while.

Jimmy Snyder Fundraiser
There will be a Charlie hot dog fundraiser to benefit Jimmy Snyder. Jimmy is a life long resident of Petersburgh. Jimmy was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Jimmy has undergone radiation and chemotherapy as well as a surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital. All the proceeds will go to Jimmy for his extensive medical costs.
The benefit will be Friday, December 9, from 11 to 7 pm (or until sold out) at the Petersburgh Fire Dept. The cost is $.75 for each hot dog or a baker’s dozen for $9. Please pre-order by calling Janet at 658-3053.
There will also be a coffee can auction with the drawing at 6 pm. Please contact Samantha Bink at 733-6729 if you would like to donate anything for the auction.
Stephentown Historical Society Holiday Dinner
The Stephentown Historical Society will hold its holiday potluck dinner on Monday, December 5, at 6:30 pm at the Stephentown Heritage Center, Garfield Road (County Route 26), Stephentown. Officers and Board members will be elected at the brief business meeting. Fred Cashmere will tell about coffee and its history after the dinner.
For the dinner, bring a dish large enough to share – main course, salad or dessert. Beverages and table service are provided. All meetings are free and open to the public. The building is handicapped-accessible. For information, phone 518-733-5675.
