Mike Benson Wins Independence Party Line For New Lebanon Town Supervisor

New Lebanon Supervisor candidate Mike Benson’s campaign to bring new leadership to the Town of New Lebanon government received an important boost with Benson winning a write-in bid to secure the Independence nomination in the September 13 primary.
The primary victory is important, as it strengthens Benson’s position on the ballot. Benson has already secured the Republican and Conservative nominations.

Stephentown’s Sensei Fish Promoted To Eighth Degree Black Belt

Master John Izzo of John Izzo’s Okinawan Karate has officially promoted him as of September 14. Achieving the rank of 8th Degree Black Belt Sensei Fish is now considered a Master.

Disaster Recovery Centers To Close

State and federal Disaster Recovery Centers in five New York counties will close soon, according to officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The facility in Rensselaer at 127 Blooming Grove Drive, Troy, will end operations at the close of business on Saturday, October 1.

Petersburgh Turkey Shoot

The Petersburgh Turkey Shoot will take place on October 2 at 12 noon; the rain date is October 9. This is the last chance for the summer long 50/50 raffle; the drawing is October 2.

Stephentown Historical Society Presents Indian Clothing

Jennifer Lee will give a talk on historic Indian clothing of the northeast woodlands on Monday, October 3, at 7:30 pm at the Stephentown Historical Society’s Heritage Center, Garfield Road (County Route 26) in  Stephentown.  Lee, a student of American Indian history and culture and of Algonkian descent, will show and model a selection of clothing and accoutrements.
