Garlic Fest Is A Go

In spite of the wrath of Irene that devastated many sections of Vermont, the Southern Vermont Garlic Festival will take place as planned this weekend at Camelot Village in Bennington. A Tale Of Two Playgrounds In Hoosick Falls

The Town castle playground, behind the Ice Kreme Kafe on Main Street and next to the basketball and tennis courts is a great playground with plenty of turrets, walkways and structures to climb, plus swings and a slide. It is a terrific place for the under 12 crowd to safely play. However, it is sometimes spoiled in the late evening and night by older kids. On Sunday, September 11, the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad is sponsoring a 911 Candle Walk, Memorial Service and Open House. The public is invited to come and participate in this event, remembering that terrible tragedy ten years ago.

Travel Advisory: Route 2 In Grafton To Be Paved

Motorists are advised that alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect on Route 2 from Route 278 in Cropseyville to the east end of Dumbleton Road in Grafton for paving operations. The work will begin on Monday, August 29, and is expected to continue until the end of September. Work will occur Monday through Friday between 6:30 am and 6 pm. Motorists should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

The Demise Of The Union Free School Building Delayed

The Union Free School building of New Lebanon has had its fate postponed yet once again, this time until August 31.
Bids have already been solicited for the demolition of the structure by the School Board of New Lebanon. The bids were to have been opened and considered at the August 17 meeting of the School Board, however this was put off after New Lebanon Town Supervisor Margaret Robertson appeared before the School Board with a resolution from the Town Board that the Union Free School be considered as a possible site for the Town’s next Town Hall.

Grafton Planning Board Action – That’s The Way It is

The Marcel Forette minor subdivision discussed at length, perhaps considered by some to be discussed ad nauseam, in last month’s report on the Grafton Planning Board was very nicely resolved at this month’s Planning Board meeting on Monday, August 22, rescheduled from August 15, by using the ancient and often practiced legal principle of “that’s the way it is.”
