Cambridge Area Branch, WNF&GA Plant Sale

On Saturday, May 14, the Cambridge Area Branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden will hold its annual plant sale.  The sale will be held on the lawn of the Cambridge Methodist Church (next to the Post Office) from 9 am to noon.
A variety of perennials and annuals, including geraniums in full bloom, will be available. Also for sale will be Booth’s Blend, a must for every gardener.  Come early for the best selection and support the Farm and Garden in this their main fund-raiser. The sale will take place rain or shine.

Hoosick Falls Cumberland Farms To Reopen May 10

Petersburgh Fire Dept. Installation

The Petersburgh Fire Department celebrated 70 years of service at its Annual Installation Dinner on April 30. The Fire Department was first organized in 1921 soon after fire hydrants were installed in the hamlet of Petersburgh, but it had limited equipment and only covered the water district where the hydrants were. Drug Take Back Day In Hoosick Falls

On Saturday, April 30, more than 40 people came to the Hoosick Falls municipal building meeting room to drop off unwanted prescription medications and over the counter tablets and capsules they had in their medicine cabinets. Thanks to a joint effort by the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3), the Hoosick Falls Police Dept. and the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Hoosick residents were able to discard these pills in a safe, environmentally friendly and free manner. They were participating in a program that was taking place across the United States.

Stephentown Fixture Not Closing Yet

Rumors have been circulating for some time now that Dave’s Supermarket in Stephentown may be closing. Recent promotions at the store with most items marked down 10% – or more recently 20% – have not done anything to reduce the speculation. Harrison Vending In Hoosick Falls Purchased By Prestige Services

Harrison Vending in Hoosick Falls was purchased by Prestige Services, Inc. of Clifton Park on February 28. “It was a good match,” said Ric Ferrannini, “Harrison was looking to sell, and Prestige was looking to expand.” Ferrannini, now employed by Prestige, worked for Harrison Vending for 29 years. He and two drivers were retained by the new company. Three office staff were not kept on.

Stephentown Seniors See Elvis

The Stephentown Senior Citizens enjoyed their first excursion of the year on Tuesday, April 26, with a trip to the Glen Falls House resort located in the town of Round Top in the northern Catskills. Following a short trek to view the Glen Falls and the spectacular Bridal Veil Falls, and after a wonderful home style meal of chicken or pork, the highlight of the day was a visit from Elvis.
