Panthers Clobber Taconic Hills 47 – 8

It didn’t take long to realize the visiting Taconic Hills Titans were in over their helmets. The Hoosick Falls Panther football team scored 27 unanswered points in the first quarter. The Panthers scored 5 offensive touchdowns and a defensive TD to run out to a 41 – 0 halftime lead.

BCS Boys Soccer Beats Germantown

James Mayer scored the lone Berlin goal on a rebound midway in the second half to give the Mountaineers a 1 to 0 win over Germantown.
Berlin dominated the first half but Germantown keeper Mandy Fuchs shut Berlin out. He had 15 saves. In the second half Germantown took over the scoring opportunities but could not score on Berlin keeper Mike Reger who had 13 saves.
The contest was well played with no cards given in the game.

A Photo Finish In Golf

The Hoosick Falls Golf Team played its last home match Monday, September 17, against Tamarac. “Hoosick Falls had a victory, but it wasn’t like any other match,” said Coach Pam Hatfield. “After the first five matches were tallied, it was a tie. Player number six also tied his match.” The tie was broken by adding the scores of the first three golfers of each team in which Hoosick Falls won by one stroke. “Now that’s a photo finish!” said Hatfield. Fill The Bus – October 5-7 In Hoosick Falls

A Hoosick Falls Central School big yellow school bus will be collecting food instead of kids October 5-7. Everyone is encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to the HFCS Homecoming Football game and activities surrounding the game on Friday, October 5. On Sunday, October 7, the bus will be on Main Street from 9 am until noon, parked in the drive of the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home. Then you can find it at the St. Mary’s Cow Plop until 4 pm.
This annual food drive is to benefit the Hoosick Falls Food Pantry. The food pantry is in great need of pastas, peanut butter, jelly, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, jello, pudding and toiletries.

SMA Students Celebrate Constitution Day By Ringing Bell

Students from St. Mary’s Academy honored the celebration of Constitution Day on September 17 at 4 pm by ringing their (over 120-year-old) school bell in unison with the entire country, from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Monday was the 225th anniversary of the acceptance of that historic document.

Eric Kaufman’s game opening kickoff was received by a Granville player who started upfield and was hit by a Panther tackler. The ball came flying out and hit the ground where Brad Burns pounced on it. The offense took to the field, and on the Panthers first play from scrimmage, quarterback Billy Pine threw to Levi Brewster, who fought his way over the goal line.
