HFCS Finds New Money

Hoosick Falls Schools Superintendent Ken Facin said at the September meeting of the Hoosick Falls School Board that he had received a letter containing an additional $15,000 in State aid for the District for “general purposes,” which he found both pleasing and puzzling. He suggested to the Board that one possible use for the new money would be to turn the very popular lacrosse club into a varsity sport. There was some discussion about this, but no decision was made.

Panthers Win 40 – 0 Over Stillwater

The HFCS Panthers took on the Stillwater Warriors last Friday night, September 21, on the turf in Stillwater. The Panthers jumped out to a 14 – 0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Brad Burns scored both touchdowns, one a 51 yard pass and another for 8 yards on the ground. The Panthers led 27 – 0 at the half.

HFCS Girls Soccer Wins Two

The HF Girls Varsity Soccer Team won last Saturday, September 22, beating Cambridge 9-2. Grace Delurey and Allie Martin each had a hat trick. Berlin Central High School Homecoming
Come celebrate the Berlin Homecoming this Friday, September 28, at Berlin Central Middle/High School. The Homecoming begins at 4 pm with the honoring of all Berlin fall varsity sports – soccer, cross country and volleyball – followed by the Boys Varsity soccer game versus New Lebanon.
Afterwards please join us for a bonfire with music and food behind the school.

Mountaineer Boys Soccer Defeats Heatly 2 To 0

Heatly played an outstanding defensive game playing an offside trap that caught Berlin offsides throughout the game. But Kyle Burdick, taking a direct kick restart, got the ball to Jackson Burhans who knocked the ball into the goal to give Berlin a 1 to 0 lead in the second half.
Heatly had a penalty kick opportunity to tie the game, but Mike Reger made an outstanding save for Berlin. Dylan Hover scored the second Berlin goal late in the game to ice the win.
Kevin Greene in goal for Heatly had 16 saves. Mike Reger for Berlin had 7 saves. There were no cards in the game.
BCS Boys JV Has A Big Turnout

The Berlin boys JV soccer team is presently 1-3-1. The team consists of seventh through tenth grade athletes. Since Berlin is the only school in the CHVL league with a boys JV team, they face opponents from class A and B level schools. The team travels across three states to get a full schedule.

Removal Of BCS Board Members Raised

It was a dark and stormy night, outside and inside the aging Berlin Elementary School Tuesday night. But the storm over the Berlin School Board appeared even darker and stormier than the one blowing outside with the revelation that the Board might look into the removal of three of its own members.
