Grafton Lakes State Park Swing Concert

Grafton Lakes State Park continues its third annual Music in the Park Concert Series on Sunday, August 1, with a big band concert provided by All Them Chops.  The show is free to the public and will run from 5:30 to 7:30 pm by the beach.

Vine Cutting At Lebanon Valley Farmers Market

It’s all about growth – growing local food, growing the community, “growing the valley.” So instead of a ribbon cutting at the Grand Opening of the Lebanon Valley Farmers Market on the fourth of July, they had a vine cutting! Wielding the lopping shears were NYS Assemblyman Tim Gordon and New Lebanon Town Supervisor Meg Robertson. Gordon pointed out that New York State’s largest industry is agriculture, “not Wall Street.”

Birding In New Lebanon And Environs

New Lebanon residents Danny and Clellie Lynch will present the program Birding in New Lebanon and Environs on Thursday, July 22, at 7 pm. The talk features slides and recordings of both familiar and less well known birds in our area and tips on where to find them and how to identify them.
For further information on this event, please call the New Lebanon Library at 518-794-8844. All are welcome, and the event is free. The library is located at 550 State Route 20, 1/4 mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.

July 2 – Friday – Outdoor Explorers Bug Program with Bob D’Avignon of the Twin Rivers Council. Meets at 11 am at Beach Nature Center. (GLSP)
July 11 – Sunday – Family Nature Crafts with local artist Nancy McGrath from 1 to 3 pm,  $12 per family. Pre-registration required by July 7. Held at Shaver Nature Center. Call 279-1155.
July 11 – Sunday – Summer Concert in the Park Series begins Hill Hollow Band from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Admission is free.  Have a picnic  and enjoy some bluegrass. (GLSP)

Baseball Camp

The “Good Old Country Hardball” Baseball Camp will once again be held at the Hoosick Little League Fields for those entering grades 3-8. The camp dates are July 5 through July 8, and the day runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Camp brochures can be picked up at the Hoosick Little League Field snack bar or by calling Camp Director Mike Lilac at 686-7321 or 686- 4320.

Hoosier Basketball Camp

The Hoosier Basketball Camp will again be sponsored by the Town of Hoosick for boys and girls entering grades 3-8. Camp dates are June 28 through July 1, and each day runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Junior Naturalist Programs For Kids

The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center will hold a Junior Naturalist Series this summer for kids ages 2 through 10. The first of the series is on Frogs and Salamanders and will be held on Saturday, June 26, from 10 am until noon. Second in the series is Bountiful Bugs held on Thursday, July 1. Each program in the series will focus on a new topic and include an activity and a craft. The fee is $3 per child or $6 per family. Programs are held rain or shine. Pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning, but not required and can be done by contacting the Center at dykenpond@fairpoint.net or at 658-2055.
Dyken Pond Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and non-motor boating. Call 658-2055 for directions and a complete schedule of our summer events.
