Wednesday night’s JV and Varsity games against Tamarac brought out the pink. This week the HF basketball teams are participating in the fund raiser Coaches Vs. Cancer. The players sported pink ribbons in their hair, pink socks and/or pink shoe laces. The game ball was pink and white and the referees used pink whistles to call the game. Berlin/New Lebanon Wrestlers Struggle At Mountie Invite

In their second Mt. Greylock tournament of the year on Saturday, January 30, the Berlin/New Lebanon wrestling team struggled to get going. While the first tournament was a duals tournament, this one was an individual, double elimination tournament. Held at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, the tournament brought in twenty-two teams from New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Mountaineers Fall To Hawthorne

Just four days after playing Heatly, one of the top teams in the Central Hudson Valley League, to a 10 point loss, the Berlin boys basketball team seemed to fall back into a slump, losing to Hawthorne 54-27 on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers, whose play had seemed to be improving in the past few games, hit a road block and at times just seemed to have a hard time finding the basket.

Mountaineer Volleyball Loses To Chatham
Against a very tough Chatham team, the Berlin boys volleyball team started off their first game very well, matching the Panthers point for point. Berlin Girls Basketball Plucks Thunder Chickens

With a small bench as it is, and Erin Berschwinger recovering from a recent shoulder injury, it was unclear if the game against Doane Stewart on January 27 would be an easy one. The Lady Mountaineers started off the game slowly letting the Thunder Chickens get the first points. Register This Month For The Taconic Valley Soccer Club
The Taconic Valley Soccer Club will be holding CDYSL registrations at the Berlin Library four times in the month of February. Dean Maxon will be at the Library from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday nights, February 11 and 18, and Saturday mornings, February the 13 and 20, from 10 am to 12 pm.
You can register on your own before February 23 on line. Payment cannot be made on line but can be sent to the address listed on line. Payment must be made by February 28 for players to hold a spot on the team.
Annual Meeting
The TVSC annual meeting will be held at the Berlin Library on March 30 at 7 pm.
SYC Goes Tubing
The Stephentown Youth Commission is going tubing at Bousquet Ski Area in Pittsfield, MA, on Sunday, February 21, from 10 am to 12 pm. The bus will leave the Stephentown Elementary School at 9 am and return around 1 pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult and a release form must be filled out by a parent or guardian. Kiwanis Free Ice Skating
Plan your February vacation around the annual Kiwanis Free Ice Skating on Saturday, February 13, from 1 to 4 pm at the Town of Hoosick Skating Rink. Join the Kiwanis for free skating, rentals, hot chocolate, cookies and lots of door prizes. Races and prizes, too. Come join in this free fun event!

Boy Scout Troop #222 Goes Rock Climbing
Local Boy Scout Troop #222 spent hours rock climbing, exploring the caves and riding the zip line at the Albany Indoor Rock Gym last week. This weekend the Scouts go to Camp Rotary to compete in the Klondike Derby which is a fun competition testing their skills in winter survival, snowshoeing and sled racing.
