Classes don’t begin at Hoosick Falls Central School until next Tuesday, but the sports season has already begun. The golfers have had five matches so far. The boys and girls soccer teams have participated in scrimmages and have tournaments coming up. There will be a field hockey tournament soon and, of course, football practice is underway.

September 7 – Monday, Labor Day, Sand Sculpture Contest. Registration at 12 pm at Beach Nature Center. Judging from 1:30 to 3 pm. Prizes for all participants. Come be an artist in the sand on the “last day of summer!”

Grafton Lakes State Park Invites Artists To The Park
Grafton Lakes State Park invites artists to portray the Park’s fall scenery on Sundays from September 20 through October 11 (Columbus Day weekend). Registered participants in the Art in the Park program will receive free Sunday admission to the park to paint, draw or photograph in exchange for submitting a piece to the Silent Art Auction at the Winter Festival on January 23, 2010.

TOPS Soccer For Little Kids
The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club has a new division this year called TOPS. This program is for three and four-year old kids and all children of any age with special needs. It will run each Saturday morning for eight weeks starting September 12. The fee is the same as the micro-league.

HFCS Meet The Coaches/Code Of Conduct Night
The Hoosick Falls Central School Athletic Department will be conducting its Meet the Coaches/Code of Conduct Night for JV and Varsity fall sports on Tuesday, August 25, at 7 pm in the High School Auditorium. Attendance is mandatory for all JV and Varsity fall sports athletes, with at least one parent or guardian, in order to participate in contests.

Hunter Safety Course
The Pioneer Fish & Game Club will hold a Hunter Safety Course on Thursday, September 10, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, and Saturday, September 12, from 8 am to 4 pm, at the Club in Hoosick Falls. Both classes must be attended.
