Rensselaer receives $500,000 gift from The Lemelson Foundation to honor and memorialize legendary teacher and mentor with state-of-the-art studio for student inventors and entrepreneurs

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) President Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D., has announced that the Institute has received a significant gift from The Lemelson Foundation to establish the Burt Swersey Inventor’s Studio, reinforcing the next generation of inventors and entrepreneurs. Ninety Years Young And Still Going Strong

The room was overcrowded, as it often is lately, at the Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Monday, May 9. This month, many extra people came out to the meeting to help the Town celebrate the 90th birthday of one of Hoosick’s most respected and community-minded people, Town Historian Phil Leonard.

Revaluation In Hoosick Is Back On For This Year

At the Monday, May 9 Town of Hoosick Board meeting, the Board discussed the pros and cons of starting the Town revaluation project this year  and ultimately decided that the project should not be delayed a year, and should proceed as originally planned, starting this year. Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino has released the results of the 2016 Prescription Drug Take Back Day event within Rensselaer County. Petersburgh Revises Its
Building Code Law

After a Public Hearing in which no one offered any comments, The Petersburgh Town Board approved a set of amendments to the Building Code law that it first passed in 2014.  The law basically adopts New York State Building Code, Fire Code, and Energy Code for use in the Town of Petersburgh, and defines enforcement mechanisms.
