Grafton Lakes Joins 110 Other Parks Across New York For “I Love My Park Day”

More than 100 volunteers braved the early morning rain showers this past Saturday morning, to help give Grafton Lakes State Park its annual spring facelift. The gathering broke into several groups, cleaning the pavilion areas, the beach and park offices as well as the shorelines, the gardens and blueberry fields, rebuilding rustic benches along Long Pond trail and some special attention paid to the Fire Tower trail. The event is coordinated by Parks & Trails New York and involves 6,500 volunteers statewide. Locally, several troops of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were joined by Cub Scout pack 911 and The Friends of Grafton State Park. Gathering at Deerfield Pavilion before trekking off on their assignments, the workers were thanked by Veronica Fitzgerald, a member of the Parks & Trails Board. Fitzgerald telling them “your work today will bring real, tangible enhancements to the park. Saturday, January 6, 1837: This morning I had my son Geo P ride to Lebanon to N. Nichols Store and get one pint 1/2 gin and a vial of paregoric and had it charged. I got for Lucinda Clemmons to take and the gin for a syrup for her. Today I moved my cheese from my south chamber, the stove pipe was too warm, it melted them and made them crack standing up on edge. Aging Grafton Ambulance Raises Questions About Viability Of Volunteer EMS Service

The special meeting of the Grafton Town Board last Saturday was called by Town Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum to consider a proposal to purchase a new ambulance for the Grafton Rescue Squad, but turned into a sometimes intense discussion about the future of the Rescue Squad and just what would be the best way to provide emergency medical services to the town. PFOA Level In Petersburgh Water District Cut In Half

Petersburgh has announced that Water Superintendent Ben Krahforst has been able to lower the level of PFOA in the water of the Petersburgh Water District by using the wells which have the lowest PFOA contamination. Results released this week show a PFOA level of 47.4 parts per trillion (ppt) at the Town Hall and 44.1 ppt at the Town Library. Plans To Locate A Dollar General Store In Berlin Unveiled At Planning Board Meeting

At its April 28 meeting, The Berlin Planning Board was presented with plans to build a Dollar General Store on two acres of land on Route 22 in Berlin. The land is to be purchased from the owners of Eagle Energy and located on the north side of their structure. Caryn Mlodzianowski of Bohler Engineering showed the Board the outline of the building, where 34 parking spaces would be located, a newly constructed entrance off Route 22, as well as greenspace, shrubbery and a ground water containment facility.
